Gearbox has finally announced and revealed Borderlands 3 today during their PAX East 2019 presentation. The reveal comes after much teasing and waiting. Gearbox had revealed a ‘Mask of Mayhem’ trailer yesterday which confirmed a new Borderlands game was in the making but it was not confirmed whether it was the name of the next title or simply a reveal.
During the presentation, Studio Head Randy Pitchford was on the stage and he revealed the title himself. A trailer was also revealed of Borderlands 3 which showed a lot of in-game action. Borderlands 3 seems to have a lot of different and unique locations which makes it look bigger than any other Borderlands game we have played so far.
Four new heroes have also been revealed for Borderlands 3 in the new trailer and it looks like most of the characters from the earlier titles are returning NPCs in Borderlands 3. The trailer shows a lot of gameplay, in-game locations, villains, monsters and many other details from the final title.
Details about the title as still vague as we don’t know much about the new heroes featured in the game and we also do not know anything about the villains shown in the trailer. Randy promised that more details about the title will be released next week so we are keeping our hopes high.
Check out the reveal trailer for Borderlands 3 below.
Borderlands 3 will also feature around 1 billion guns which are an insane amount of weapons for a video game. One of the best aspects of the Borderlands franchise has always been its wacky weaponry and looks like the new title is going to wipe out all records of the previous franchises. It will also feature walking guns as the trailer shows a gun walking on two legs.
A confirmed release date for Borderlands 3 has not been announced at the moment however more details about the title will be revealed next on April 3.
