A tweet made by the official Borderlands Twitter account may have unintentionally revealed the released date of Borderlands 3. The tweet stated that the game will be out on 13 September of this year. The tweet, which seemed to be posted unintentionally was deleted, however a captured image was being circulated around on the internet.
The tweet in question read:
Mayhem is Coming September 13. Pre-order now for the Gold Weapon Skins Pack!

A September release date is far off the October release date that was being suggested earlier last week. Twitter user Wario64 who shared the images of the deleted tweet, also showed another tweet that suggested that the game will be released on Epic Game Store. This does not suggest that the game will be an Epic exclusive. However, we cannot deny that only Epic’s logo was shown and not Steam’s.
Gearbox Boss Randy Pitchford has also responded to the leak that suggest that the game will come out as an Epic Game Store exclusive. In a series of tweets, he stated that the published 2K Games and its parent Take-Two Interactive are responsible for all the decisions regarding price-points, territories, distribution and platform partnerships. Which suggests that he wants everyone to know that the complaints should be directed towards them.
Pitchford also gave out his opinion saying that exclusives are find when they come with advantages and when they are short, like six months.
The short term exclusivity could be a hint that the game might be an Epic exclusive for a certain period of time. This is not the first time this is happening, as Metro Exodus was released as a Epic Games Store exclusive for one year. A deal like this could be really good for Epic if they can release the game as a exclusive.
2K Games declined to comment on the leaks, and have said that they have nothing to announce at this time, but will come out with more details share about Borderlands 3 on April 3.
