Breadborn Brings Free-to-Play Chaos to Steam with Action-Packed Bread Battles

Indie two-student developer Progressive Games and publisher IndieGO Publishing have announced the PC Steam launch of Breadborn. Breadborn is an action game that lets you step into the role of Kolobok, the iconic character from an East Slavic fairy tale, in an unconventional battle against villagers and animals. Built on a custom engine developed by two school-aged game creators, Breadborn combines humor, surreal storytelling, and action in a unique and unpredictable bread-based world.

In Breadborn, you guide Kolobok and lead an army of crumbs in an epic struggle to reach the Knyaz. The game’s creative combat allows you to arm your bread warriors with various close and long-range weapons. From branches and axes to miniguns, Breadborn’s weapon selection is vast and wacky—perfect for a world where even a balalaika or a jelly block can become formidable tools. You can also use pieces of Kolobok himself to create tiny, crumb-based allies that sow havoc among enemies ranging from common villagers to ravenous chickens.

The storyline of Breadborn adds to the quirky experience, featuring Kolobok’s journey through various locations surrounding Breadtown. Customization also plays a major role in Breadborn, as you can design their Kolobok’s appearance using an in-game editor. This level of personalization extends to gameplay styles, with you free to tailor Kolobok’s skills, weapons, and army as they take on bosses and explore Breadborn’s unconventional world.

Progressive Games, a small team of developers and a musician still in school created Breadborn with a love for surreal stories and action-packed gameplay.
