Sledgehammer Gamers is returning to the development of the Call of Duty franchise with their latest title announcement Call of Duty: Vanguard. Call of Duty: Vanguard is the next mainline Call of Duty game in the franchise which is set in the WW2 era and will release in November 2021. After staying in the shadows for over 5 years, Sledgehammer Games is once again taking the helm of the franchise.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is set in World War 2 however the war has officially ended, and Hitler is dead. However, the Nazis are not accepting defeat that easily as the Allies learn of Project Phoenix which is a secret project put in place by the Nazis in order to facilitate Hitler’s successor. The main villain of Call of Duty: Vanguard is the fictional Heinrich Freisinger inspired by the real Gestapo operative Heinrich Muller.

To deal with the new problem, the Allies have deployed a squad of four specialists from four countries including Arthur Kingsley (Great Britain), Polina Petrova (Soviet Union) Wade Jackson (USA), and Lucas Riggs (Australia). The core of Vanguard will be its single-player campaign and it will be told from multiple points of view. Check out the reveal trailer of Call of Duty: Vanguard below:

The game will also include Multiplayer which will have 20 maps at launch and game modes including Champion Hill where players duel solo or in squads of two or three. A Zombies mode will also be part of the game which will be developed by the Black Ops Studio Treyarch and will connect the story with the previous undead story from Black Ops Cold War. Additional details will be released at a later date.

Activision has also announced that Raven Software is currently working on a Vanguard map for Warzone which will arrive later this year. Along with the new map, a new anti-cheat system will also arrive in Warzone. The crossover will act as a metaverse connecting Vanguard, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare. Call of Duty: Vanguard will release on November 5, 2021, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
