Publisher Ratalaika Games and developer RedBlack Spade have announced the release of their brand-new title Catmaze. Catmaze is a fairy Metroidvania which is inspired by Slavic mythology. In Catmaze, you take on the role of Alesta, a teenage witch who finds her life turned upside down after a hapless experience. As she tries to bring her mother back from the land of the dead, she enlists the help of cats that for the link between the living and the dead world called Yavi and Navi.

While Alesta has a strong spirit, she sadly lacks muscle, and she needs someone else to do her bidding when it comes to monster slaying. The world of Catmaze is filled with geese, kikimora, anchutkas, mermaids, and many more mysterious forms from the Slavic myths that have cautiously kept their secrets in the magical forests and dense thickets. For tackling the monsters in the game, Alesta has 12 different types of creatures at her disposal, each with its own unique strengths and weaknesses.
As you explore the world of Catmaze, you will come across caves, forests, and villages where you will gather upgrades and new abilities that you let you access previously inaccessible areas in a true Metroidvania fashion. Apart from platforming, different sections of the game come with really cool mechanics as well such as flying on a broomstick or riding a wolf. Each level ends with a boss fight and for reaching the boss, you will need to defeat various enemies that include ghosts, mean mermaids, bad mushrooms, and tons more.
