Century: Age of Ashes Combat Guide – Combat Tips, Power-Ups, Abilities

Review: Century: Age of Ashes

This Century: Age of Ashes Marauder Combat Guide will show you some general combat tips that you can use in the game by using everything that a match has to offer. This includes your class’ abilities and when to use them, what Power-Ups are and how you should be using them, and how you can take the fight to the opponents or dodge their incoming attacks.

Century: Age of Ashes is a dragon-fighting, fast-paced action game which looks like the modern-day fighter jet dogfighting scenario in a vicious battle. Each team with their players comes with special abilities that can mix up the battle to capture the flag and inch closer to victory. While the game is not only about securing the flag, it is also about dogfighting in the air, using fireballs and other magical attacks.

Below we have detailed some general combat tips to help you in the game.

Don’t Rush for the Flag

While the goal of the game is to capture the flag, it also makes you a big target when you are the flag bearer, making the opponents focus all their strength to batter you with attacks. If you want to effectively win, devise a strategy that allows you and your teammate to strike at the right moment when the opponents are trying to secure the flag.

The Flag carrier will mostly be accompanied by their allies to protect and escort them back, and your focus should be to split them up and use everything you have in your team to avoid the flag carrier to succeed.

Another great way to disrupt the opponent is to use the Blast ability to knock them around, and sneakily steal the flag for yourself.

Avoiding Fireballs

Fireballs are each player’s main way of attacking the other player. These can be locked onto a target which then makes them track the target to hit them. While you can avoid being locked on as a target by dodging, you can also use Marauder, who has the Gust ability to remove the lock-on, forcing them to move on to other targets or try different methods.

Having said that, if you find yourself locked on with fireball attacks, it does not mean that the attack is guaranteed to hit you. Mixing your aerial movements with dodging, or flying through tight spaces like arches or small tunnels will either cause the Fireballs to crash into other objects, or burn out if it can’t keep up with the chase for so long.

Use Power-Ups

The game offers plenty of Power-ups like the boost or shield power up. Picking these up gives you a big advantage over the enemy by either giving you an advantage to evade or soak up some of the incoming attacks without taking a lot of damage.

Whenever you find yourself disengaged from a fight, look to picking up power-ups as an opponent can be right around the corner to get on your back or attacking your allies. You can also lure the enemy towards the power up while they are chasing you, as this not only takes the target off from your allies but can also potentially split up the opponent players.

Class Abilities

There are currently three classes you can choose in the game right now which are Phantom, Windguard, and the Marauder. Each of these classes comes with its own special abilities that play an offensive and defensive role depending on what playstyle you like the most.

If you are all about taking the fight to the enemy with some abilities that give you the upper hand, Marauder is the choice for you. His ability to disable enemy locking target on you gives you more reason to take the fight to the enemy. In addition, his Hunter’s Mark ability targets an enemy who receives additional damage, while his Frost Bolts allow you to smash the opponent’s shields, making them vulnerable to attacks.

On the other hand, Windguard is a supportive character that can allow you to focus on aiding your flag carrier by proving them with shields or using Smoke Trails that can disengage the opponent chasing after you. On the other hand, using the Blast ability significantly disrupts the opponents by throwing them off course, or breaking them team by splitting them.
