Kalypso Media and Yippee! Entertainment along with Torus Games have announced that closed beta sessions for remastered versions of both Commandos 2 and Praetorians. Both Commandos 2 – HD Remaster and Praetorians – HD Remaster will be released on January 24, 2020, exclusively on Windows. Both remasters will later arrive on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in Spring 2020.
Players who want to purchase both remasters can do so in the form of a special discounted double pack however both titles can also be purchased separately. Players who pre-order the double pack from the Kalypso Store will also get access to the game’s closed beta for Windows which is slated to begin on December 13, 2019. Both betas will feature a high definition makeover.
Players will be able to experience a revamped tutorial and access to each game’s campaign missions and skirmish maps during the closed beta. Players playing Praetorians – HD Remaster closed beta will also get access to the game’s multiplayer mode during the beta phase. The developers will continue to roll out bug fixes and improvements for the betas in the following weeks.
In Commandos 2 – HD Remaster, players will be able to control of an elite group of Allied commandos who must venture deep inside enemy territory and utilize their combined expertise to complete increasingly challenging missions. The game features open-world environments giving players the complete freedom to be creative in their approach and do whatever it takes to complete the missions.
Beta features of Commandos 2 – HD Remaster includes:
- Experience every tutorial and campaign mission from the original game revamped in high definition with new controls.
- Reunite with an eclectic cast of characters, including Jack ‘Tiny’ O’Hara and Whiskey the dog.
On the other hand, in Praetorians – HD Remaster, players will lead the emerging Roman Empire by proving a legionnaire’s worth on the battlefields of Egypt. Players will also explore the combat theatres of Gaul and the heart of the Roman Empire in Italy in a crusade to become Emperor. Beta features of Praetorians – HD Remaster include:
- Learn the ropes or show your militant might with access to every tutorial, campaign and skirmish mission from the original game
- Play solo or go head-to-head with a fully remastered multiplayer mode
