XboxEra announced and launched a Kickstarter campaign for its new project, Console Wars The Card Game last week, and the response from the gaming community has been overwhelming. The satirical and parody-filled card game managed to reach its funding goal in under 96 hours. This is a huge development for the title and the developer has now shared additional development details along with stretch goals for the game which will be part of the development cycle as well if the milestones are reached.
Console Wars The Card Game is a humorous take on the competitive nature of the video game industry, highlighting the rivalry among different platforms, publishers, and the gamers themselves. The game was revealed earlier last week, and the trailer showcased the game’s unique concept and playful spirit, and it can still be viewed on the project’s Kickstarter page.

With the project now fully funded, the team at XboxEra is shifting their focus to enhancing the game. They have introduced a new set of stretch goals based on community feedback, aiming to improve the experience for all backers. The team is also exploring the possibility of developing a digital version of the card game, as it has been a popular request among supporters.
Jon Clarke, co-founder of XboxEra, expressed his excitement about the project’s success and the community’s response. “It’s been extremely rewarding seeing Console Wars: The Card Game resonate with so many gamers out there! Seeing massive outlets like IGN, KindaFunny, and VGC share our humble project with worldwide audiences was fantastic. Now that we’re fully funded, we’re excited to let gamers and card game fans go hands-on during Gamescom 2024,” said Clarke.
Clarke also noted the irony of the ongoing debates among fans, stating, “It’s also been hilarious watching ‘console warriors’ quite literally console war about Console Wars The Card Game. You can’t make this stuff up! We genuinely wonder if they even realize they’re doing it.”
As the team continues to work on the game, they are eager to share more updates and details with their backers and the gaming community. If you are heading to gamescom 2024 next week, you can head over to XboxEra’s booth and get a hands-on with the game as well. The booth is located in the new Cards & Boards Area at Stand SB037 in Hall 05.2. The booth will remain live throughout the event from August 21 – 25, 2024 where you will be able to try out Console Wars The Card Game.
