Developer Butterscotch Shenanigans has announced the release window for its upcoming sequel of the hit crafting game Crashlands 2 in a new trailer. Developers showcase a heartwarming twist, showcasing the cozy, community-building aspects of the game alongside its trademark action. While you will be taking a break from crafting bizarre weaponry, and using it to cause mayhem, you will be spending time making friendships, creating homes, and crafting farms to sustain these homes.
Crashlands 2 continues the intergalactic adventures of former trucker Flux Dabes, who, after suffering corporate burnout, crashes once again on the vibrant planet of Woanope. This time, Flux isn’t just focused on fighting aliens and crafting weapons but also on relaxing and building meaningful relationships. The game invites you to recover from the chaos of interplanetary travel by attending Flux’s Grandmammy’s surprise birthday party—though, of course, it’s a secret mission.

While Crashlands 2 retains its action-packed features, the trailer highlights an entirely different side of the game, offering you the chance to slow down, build homes, and make new friends. For those seeking a break from the combat-heavy aspects of the game, there’s now an opportunity to construct a cozy home from scratch. You can customize your living space, designing walls, floors, doors, and ceilings to create a comfortable base for themselves and their companions.
Adding further charm, the game allows you to decorate their homes with a wide range of unlockable furniture, including tables, chairs, pots, and other decorative items. The goal is to create the ultimate hangout spot for Flux and their newfound friends, including pets and the eccentric alien locals. In true Crashlands fashion, these characters bring unique personalities and charm to the adventure. Characters like Graal, a gruff but well-meaning companion, and the kind but lost Oowee, offer both emotional depth and gameplay assistance. Through various missions, you will be able to help these characters discover more about themselves while receiving help in return.
Pet lovers will also find plenty to enjoy in Crashlands 2. The game introduces pet variants of the wild creatures that populate Woanope, offering you the chance to nurture, name, and train your new companions. As pets grow and develop, they become formidable allies, with unique abilities you can upgrade. By “embiggening” their pets, you unlock special recipes and make their companions even more powerful, whether they seek a cuddly creature or a more fearsome companion.
Crashlands 2 offers several gameplay modes for those who crave variety. Whether you prefer the calm of fishing, farming, critter-catching, home decorating, or the thrill of action-packed combat against alien enemies, the game has something for everyone. You can choose between Chill, Adventure, or Challenge Modes, tailoring your experience to match their playstyle. Combat options also range from stealth and traps to high-speed, high-skill confrontations, ensuring that you can engage in the way they find most enjoyable.
Crashlands 2 is aiming for a Q1 launch on the Netflix mobile app and PC via Steam. A Steam page is now live for it where you can add the game to your wishlist and stay updated on all future developments. Additional details about the game such as a confirmed release date will be announced later.
