Creators of God of War Share Some Hilarious Bugs from Development

God of War

On Tuesday, Sony Santa Monica who is the developer of this year’s critically acclaimed God of War, shared some hilarious bugs from the development of the game. In a video titled “Midgard Mishaps” the development bugs highlight what developers have to go through when making a game.

To celebrate the price drop of God of War, the team shared stories of quirks that they discovered during the development of the game. It also provides us with information on how the industry works on a day-to-day basis, and what bugs they have to fix before releasing a game.

Take a look at the video:

Making a video game is difficult. Making a stable game that both pushes the capabilities of the hardware and creates a super immersive, no-camera-cut, epically-sized AAA gaming experience like the one seen in the new God of War, is vastly more difficult. This massive task, involving hundreds of people developing and implementing content simultaneously, which can often have a tendency to break things, definitely added to the challenge.

There is no denying that game development is a difficult profession to take on in media. The layers of interactivity in games mean that developers have to make a game that has a lasting effect on the players. Even though the quirky video seems funny, it also shows what devs have to deal with to make the final product, and that too a good one, where expectations have to be met with fans.

Thankfully for the studio, God of War didn’t have any issues of that sort as the game was met with a lot of positives and made it into the list of most successful games n PlayStation history. Kratos’s journey to Land of Midgard was both critically acclaimed and commercially a massive success, becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive game within three days of its launch. Only recently did Marvel’s Spider-Man beat that record.
