Crytek and Improbable have Partnered for a New AAA Game

Crytek has announced that they are partnering with Improbable to work on a new AAA game. Crytek will team up its CryEngine with Improbable’s SpatialOS to develop the game.

More details about the project will be revealed soon. However, the two companies have announced the development of a fully featured SpatialOS game development kit for CryEngine.

We’re proud to partner with Improbable, but we want it to be the start of something bigger. We want to work with other technologists, tool makers, and developer services to create a best-in-class and ever-improving experience.

The statement also talks about the progress that has already been made with the fully featured SpatialOS kit. This will empower CryEngine users to make most of the Improbable’s tech, which will enable larger and more persistent gaming worlds.

Crytek is planning to work closely with Improbable to create a fully-featured SpatialOS Game Development Kit for CRYENGINE for its forthcoming titles. Progress has already been made on this, and CRYENGINE developer Automaton has created its own open source integration with SpatialOS for its forthcoming 1000-player battle royale title Mavericks: Proving Grounds

The Crysis developer will actually be testing out this integration with a brand new AAA game. there is not much detail about the game, but we do know that the game will be an online service-based game with multiplayer components (which is what SpatialOS is best at). The game will also be somehat monetized, engagement driven experience.
