CD Projekt Red recently held its special episode of Night City Wire during which it announced the first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. The first expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 is called Phantom Liberty and it will continue V’s journey further into the Night City. Apart from the official reveal of the expansion’s name, CD Projekt Red also released the first teaser trailer for the expansion and also announced that the much-awaited Edgerunners update for Cyberpunk 2077 is also available now.

Introduced by Game Director Gabe Amatangelo, he detailed that a new cast of characters will be introduced in the upcoming expansion that V will come into contact with inside a new location within Night City. Phantom Liberty is currently scheduled for release in 2023 for PS5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia. Not only that but Keanu Reeves will be reprising his role as the rebel rockerboy Johnny Silverhand for Phantom Liberty as well.

Apart from the new expansion announcement, CD Projekt Red also revealed details about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the anime set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077. It is slated for airing on Netflix on September 13, 2022, and during its dedicated segment, Bartosz Sztybor, one of the creators of the show, sat down for an interview to share insights and details about the anime, discussing the story, themes, characters and more. He also shared his experience working with Studio Trigger and their influence on the show.
Studio Trigger is the legendary Japanese studio that is bringing the world of Cyberpunk 2077 to life in its anime. Apart from the new expansion and an update on the upcoming anime, we also got to see tons of details on the latest Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.6 which is also called The Edgerunners Update. The new Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners Update or Patch 1.6 is now available for the game, and you can update your game right now to jump into the new content. The new update is named after the upcoming Edgerunners anime which is set in the same universe and the trailer showcases many of the new equipable items which are present in the anime show. This includes the jacket worn by protagonist David Martinez along with a shotgun used by a character from the show. The highly requested feature by the community, the transmog system is also now available in the game.
The new transmog system/wardrobe is now available right inside V’s apartments and safe houses. Players also have the ability to save up to six outfits that can be viewed and selected straight from the inventory. Apart from this, the update also comes with a cross-platform save progression function which allows your save files to be uploaded to the cloud and seamlessly continued on a different platform where the game is available. The update also adds the ability to play the game Roach Race at any of the arcade cabinets throughout Night City. Roach Race features the beloved figure from The Witcher 3 as she gallops, jumps, and glitches through locations from The Witcher series of games in an endlessly scrolling 2D platformer style.
Fans of The Witcher will be happy to know that they can download and play Roach Race on iOS and Android devices outside of Cyberpunk 2077 as well. It is available for free across all mobile platforms. Nibbles the cat is also now available to pose in the Photo Mode. Apart from these bigger additions to the game, the update also brings additional weapons, quests, and some new secrets to uncover in Night City.
