How to Defeat Woodman
When you meet Woodman in the Automatic Love main quest, one of the objectives here is to interrogate him. He will ask you to pay him for the information you need. Paying him will avoid the battle altogether, however, if you decide not to pay him any money, you will then begin a fight with him.
You can make things very easy for yourself if you fight Woodman using the Katana in his office. The Katana can be obtained from the restricted area inside his office, which you can then use against him.
Woodman uses melee attacks in the first phase of the fight. It is only when he loses a lot of health that he brings out the big guns and uses his weapon to spray bullets at you. The bullets deal significant damage, which is why fighting without the Katana means that you have to fight even longer. Equipping the Katana and using it on Woodman cuts the fight short, completing the quest without paying any money.
