Darksiders Genesis Boss Battles Guide
Below you will find all the bosses and how you beat them in the game.
Boss #1 – Hollow Fiend
This is the first boss that you will face in the game. The Hollow Fiend comes right at the conclusion of the first chapter. The area where the battle ensues is quite small and does not offer a lot of space to run around. In addition, the boss has some very devastating attacks if you are close to it.
The best way to beat this boss is to have a character that offers some range. This is where it is best to select Strife for this fight. On the other hand, the Hollow Fiend relies on three attacks, which all require dodging and moving away from you. The first attack is where he will slash with his hand if you are close by.
The other attack is where the boss will produce several bombs and flings it at you. At this point, you have to dodge as many of the bombs as you can if you are avoiding any damage. The last attack is where the boss will turn the floor into lava and fire. This is where you will have to move around and avoid getting into the lava. All the while, there will be smaller enemies that will also spawn and fight alongside the boss, so you have to deal with them as well. As mentioned before, the best way is to fight with Strife and fire away from a distance.
Boss #2 – Slag Demon
The Slag Demon comes at the end of Chapter 2 when you are in the Slag Heap. This boss will not shy away from charging at you and following you around. Which is why you should always be on the move and keep as much distance as you can from him. this boss fight also has ads that spawn along and are more annoying than tough, but you have to take them out as well. Not only does that make things a little breathable, but the smaller enemies drop a lot of health orbs which are absolutely necessary for this boss fight.
As mentioned before, the Slag Demon loves to charge at you in a straight line. This means that you can dodge away from the attack, and add in a few of your own attacks in the between. Be careful not to get stomped in his charge attack as it takes a lot of health away from you.
Another one of his attacks also features a sort of charge that leaves a trail of lava behind him. This trail disappears fairly quickly and does not pose that much of a danger. The best character to choose for this fight is again Strife, who can deal a lot of damage to the boss itself while running around avoiding his attacks.
Boss #3 – Legion Boltspitter
The Legion Boltspitter boss can be found in the third chapter of the game. The boss is not too tough to beat, and you can make things easier for yourself by taking out the ads before engaging directly with the boss.
The area has some pillars that offer you some cover from one of the boss’ main attacks, where he will throw some bombs in your direction. As the boss likes to keep some distance between you and him, you are best to fight him with Strife.
Boss #4 – Molten Hound
This boss is one of the toughest bosses that you will fight against. The Molten Hound can be found in Chapter 4 and will require you to fight with War. Not only is the hound quick, but it also follows you very quickly and will corner you in no time. When it gets close, it will slash its claws or send out a large flame from its mouth. The hound also has an aerial attack where he jumps up and smashes on the ground towards you.
The boss is tough to beat because of how dangerous its attacks are up close, and how fast it eliminates any distance between the two of you. This is why you need a character that can also deal massive damage in return, and waste no time to running around in vain. However, dodging the hound’s attacks is something you should focus on between your own attacks. the hound’s vicious slam attack can take a chunk off from your health.
If all that wasn’t enough, you also have to deal with the smaller enemies that spawn from all directions. This is where you should deal with them first before resuming your attacks on the hound.
Boss #5 – Mammon
This boss has a lot to offer in terms of attacks and making use of everything it has in its power. The boss fight comes in three stages as well, where it will get tougher and tougher as the battle progresses.
Mammon is found in Chapter 6 of the game. When you first face this boss, it will like to throw a purple beam that you have to dodge as soon as you can. This battle also requires you to be on the move at all times. This is because you do not want to get caught in one of Mammon’s surprise attacks that stun you. Mammon will dive underground and emerge from your position to stun you. Stay away from this attack or you will be stuck for some time.
As the battle progresses, Mammon will transform his purple beam into a laser that deals additional damage from before. When he is in this attack mode, he will rotate around and sweep the area near him. You need to run around and stay away from this laser attack.
The final phase of the battle is where the boss will summon everything it has, which are his two duplicate clones that take no damage, and the other smaller enemies that spawn from all sides. It is pointless to fight the clones as they are immune to your attacks, which is why you should only focus on Mammon when attacking in this phase.
Boss #6 – Blight Cannon
You will find Blight Cannon in Chapter 8, where it will just spit out poison in all directions. Your task here is to hit the cannon, avoid the poison, and clear out the ads that come from all corners. The fight will get harder as the cannon’s health depletes, while more enemies will make things tougher for you.
The fight is not that hard, other than to look out for where the cannon will spill the poison. Dodging away gives you a lot of time to counter with your own attack. The cannon is not that fast and you can easily dodge the poison if you play with Strife.
Boss #7 – Belial
You will face Belial when you reach chapter 9 of the game. Belial has some of the strongest attacks in the game that can instantly drain your health and kill you. The best way to fight him is by switching between characters when attacking and dodging.
The best way to deal damage is to dodge away and always attack from behind. This gives you an opening to attack after you have dodged away. However, you have to be careful as he can swing his weapon around and can catch you off guard. Another one of his surprise attack is where he transports and returns back at your location. As soon as he disappears, stay on the move and avoid staying in his range or you will be stunned.
As the battle progresses, Belial will call upon smaller enemies that not only fight against you but also give a chance for the boss to heal as he eats them. You have to take these smaller enemies out and limit any health regeneration the boss is looking for.
In the final stages, the boss will occasionally send out many lines of fire spreading outwards from his location, you can dodge them by standing in between the lines.
Boss #8 – Astarte
When you reach chapter 10, you will come across a boss by the name of Astarte. The boss fight is not so difficult and you can beat Astarte quite easily. In the first phase, all you have to do is focus on dealing a lot of damage to Astarte and follow it around.
After a while, Astarte will bring out other enemies and go into hiding. You have to beat all the enemies in order to get back to the boss. When Astarte reappears, the battle is just a repeating process from then and until the boss is defeated.
Boss #9 – Nephilim Vindicator
This boss is found when you reach Chapter 11 of the game. The boss is not so tough to defeat, and all you have to do is keep moving around and fighting the smaller enemies and dodging the boss’ attacks.
One of the attacks is where the vindicator will throw bombs at your location. These are easy to dodge as their projector is shown before they land. Another one of the attacks it has is the beam that can slow you or stun you. This only becomes dangerous as other smaller enemies can crowd up and you and drain your health.
Boss #10 – Grinner
The Grinner is a boss that you will find in chapter 11 of the game. It relies on grabbing you and throwing you around when you get caught in its grasp. The other attack it has is a beam of light that he produces forward and at your location. You have to dodge this attack and counter it with your own hits from the side.
You are far better to fight with Strife in this boss battle as it can offer you range and can allow you to continuously fire away at the Grinner. Keep attacking and you will be done in no time.
Boss #11 – Stormcaller
This boss can be found in Chapter 12 where you face it at the end of the chapter. The boss will fight along a lot of smaller enemies, which are best taken out in the early stages of the battle. Stormcaller will also summon a bolt of lightning from the sky that will stun you for a short period of time.
When the smaller enemies have been cleared out, your task is to just keep moving and finding any openings to hit the boss. The fight is pretty manageable and you can complete it in no time.
Boss #12 – Dagon
Dagon is another tough boss in the game who is found in Chapter 13. This boss has quick attacks that shoot out at your location. The best hero for this battle is Strife, who can dodge and attack from a distance.
When you have dealt enough damage, Dagon will be immune as he will produce a shield. This is the best time to attack the other smaller enemies or use items for health. When Dagon gets back into the fight, you will find the stage will have a storm that will throw you off balance. Dagon will also produce lightning and orbs of electricity that you have to shoot before they hit you.
