Crunching Koalas and Acid Wizard Studio have announced the release date for their upcoming survival horror game Darkwood on consoles. Although the game is coming out in May on all three consoles, the release date for each console is different with PS4 players getting to play the game before any other console
Darkwood was initially released back in August 2017 on PC and it is finally coming out on consoles. It has very good reviews on the platform. Darkwood offers a brand new experience in the survival horror genre because every day in the game is different than the first one. During the day time, players will go out and explore the ever-changing world of Darkwood to find supplies and enough resources to survive the night.
When the night falls, players must return back to their hideout and get busy making sure that the place is secure and make sure that they survive the night and see the morning light again. The game is played from a top-down perspective but it still manages to deliver solid horror mechanics in a very neat package.
The game offers a large open world for players to explore for supplies. There are no quests or markers in the game. As long as the light is present, you are free to explore whichever part of the map you want. You will explore areas to find materials and craft new weapons and discover the secrets hidden in the woods surrounding your hideout.
When the night falls, it is time for you to get back to your hideout and get ready to face the horrors lurking in the dark. You will have different weapons, traps and the option to hide from enemies at your disposal. You will need to use every last bit of your skill to ensure that you survive until the daylight.
