Bend Studio has detailed the Photo Mode featured in their upcoming open-world survival title Days Gone and it looks brilliant. Jeff Ross, Game Director Bend Studio, recently posted on the official PlayStation Blog where he took some time explaining all the different features that will be present in the photo mode of Days Gone when it launches.
Jeff mentions in his post that the world of Days Gone is beautiful as it includes a regular day/night cycle and different weather types each unique to different biomes. This is one of the reasons why the developers decided to include a detailed photo mode in the game right at launch so that players can capture their favorite moments right after they jump in the title.
Jeff explains that the aim while making the photo mode for Days Gone was that they wanted the players to feel that they are actually holding a camera in the real world instead of a video game. This is the reason they added all the features that come standard in modern cameras. Players will have access to different panels in the photo mode where they can adjust different settings for the best picture.
There’s the Characters panel where players can toggle character and bike visibility and choose different facial expressions for Deacon. There are also different frames to choose in this section and logo options. The Lens panels allows players to adjust different advanced settings such as Field of View, Aperture, Film Grain and more.
The best panel inside the Photo Mode is the Advanced Mode which allows players to fine tune each and every little detail in the picture. This mode has 55 different settings to play around such as Bloom, Color Depth Grading panels, Color Grading and a lot more. This will provide players the most extensive photo mode to ever feature in a video game.
For this photo mode, the developers worked closely with the Art team which has some Hollywood veterans in it too. They helped with the details and made the photo mode look like a professional photo editing software. Jeff states
This is the very same interface our artists used to author the filter presets that ship with the game. Players can even take one of our presets as a starting point for learning how Advanced Mode works, and use it a baseline for creating their own filter that can be saved to one of five preset slots for easy re-use later.
At the end, Bend Studio confirms that Days Gone will ship with this detailed Photo Mode. You can head over to the official post to see some really cool photos taken using this mode.
Days Gone is arriving on PS4 on April 26, 2019.
