In an exclusive interview with gameinformer, Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of FromSoftware, said that a remaster of Demon’s Souls is not out of question but he would like that studio must be the right one for the job.
This was revealed by him in an interview question by gameinformer where gameinformer was asking questions about their upcoming title ‘Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice’ however he asked this question randomly. Miyazaki’s response was not in negation but it was not a positive one as well.
His initial response was that he is not a fan of looking at his past work and he is not personally interested in making a remaster of Demon’s Souls. However, he also stated that it is possible but however the decision making is not his alone. They will need Sony’s approval on it as well.
He also mentioned that if a Demon’s Souls Remaster is happening, he would not just want any studio for the job. The studio has to be the right one because the studio needs to put their heart and soul into the remaster like they did with the original title.
His official words were
If it was a studio that really loved the original work and really put their heart and soul into realizing it again, then that’s something I would enjoy. But it’s really complicated because I have these fond memories. Thinking about the idea of a remaster gives me kind of butterflies in my stomach and makes me a little nervous, so it’s complicated. But I understand there are many users and many players and fans out there who really love Demon’s, so if that’s something they could accomplish with a studio that loved the work, then yeah, I’d be okay with that.
FromSoftware is currently working towards releasing a Dark Souls Trilogy which will come with all three titles in the franchise along with any DLC each title received. The Dark Souls Trilogy contains Dark Souls Remastered which was released recently as well.
Personally, we would love to see Demon’s Souls come back as a remaster because this title really set the pace for Dark Souls and all other titles that came out of FromSoftware after it. Demon’s Soul started it all and there would be no Dark Souls without it.
