Old Monk Boss Battle Guide – Demon’s Souls

While the strategy will change every time another human player is controlling Old Monk because every player will fight according to their playstyle, this guide helps fight a version of Old Monk that is not controlled by a real player. As the battle begins, the Old Monk will start coming towards you while landing some of his melee attacks using his claws. Dodge the attacks and try to find windows between the attacks to land a few jabs unless you see him preparing for a powerful slam attack. If this happens, roll away from the boss.

Depending on your build, you can either stick close to him or remain at a distance. If you stick close to him, he will rely more on his melee attacks, and if you remain at a distance, he will stick to his ranged attacks as well. His ranged attacks include a Soul Arrow and a Homing Soul Arrow attack. This is a slow attack and will give you plenty of time to see it coming and then dodge accordingly.

To defeat the boss, you will need to block his attacks and keep trying to backstab him for maximum damage. One item that works exceptionally well for this boss battle is the Spike Shield, which allows you to block 70% of incoming magic damage or any other shield that offers a 100% physical attack block. Both of these shields will help you block his incoming attacks, stagger him, and then land powerful backstabs for an easy boss kill. This is not a very powerful or tricky boss, but it can become annoying if you come face-to-face with another real player controlling it.
