Hammer of Proving in Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen
Hammer of Proving is used to break open the Tribute Chests at the end of the Battleground seasonal activity in the new update for Destiny 2. These Tribute Chests contain Hammer Charges and other Seasonal loot that you can obtain after completing any of the three Battleground activities in Season of the Chosen. Before you can use it, you must first unlock Hammer of Proving in the game.
Unlocking Hammer of Proving in Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen
To unlock the Hammer of Proving, all you need to do is first complete a run of the Battleground. Once you have completed it, go back to the H.E.L.M., speak with the NPCs, interact with the Prismatic Recaster, check the War Table, and then go back again to complete another run of the Battleground. Once this run is complete, you will be rewarded with the Hammer of Proving.
Using the Hammer of Proving
Once you have unlocked the Hammer of Proving, to actually use it, you will need some Cabal Gold. Cabal Gold is the seasonal currency of Season of the Chosen and you can earn it from various activities such as Playlist Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, Public Events, Blind Well, and others. To start using the Hammer of Proving, collect 14 Cabal Gold and slot it in the Hammer of Proving. Once done, go to the Battleground and complete a run. Once done, you can use the hammer to smash open one of the Tribute Chests for exclusive seasonal gear and Hammer Charges.
You will need the Hammer Charges to focus the new Umbral Engrams to contain Season of the Chosen loot. You do not need Hammer Charges to focus Umbral Engrams from the previous seasons as it is only required for the Umbral Engrams of this current season. Also, one character can use the Hammer of Proving to smash only one Tribute Chest and there are three in total. You can further upgrade the Hammer of Proving for various effects.
