New Developer Diary Focuses on Importance of a Battle Plan in Outward

Outward Battle Plan

Deep Silver and Nine Dots have released a new developer diary for their upcoming survival-RPG Outward which focuses on the importance of a battle plan in the game. With the title coming out later this month, we are getting more details about the title focusing on different aspects of the title.

The newest developer diary is the third video in the series and focuses on the importance of developing a strong and effective battle plan in Outward. The combat system of Outward is developed in such a way that players cannot simply get in the fight, swing their weapons blindly and come out victorious.

You will need to develop a certain strategy for each battle and this is the primary focus of the newest developer diary. You will come across a different number of enemies in Outward and everyone will require its own strategy before you can take it down. Some of these enemies will be much bigger than you in size and weight so you cannot simply jump in to fight with them without a proper plan.

One of the best tactics to get the upper hand on your enemies in Outward is to make sure that your enemies are not stable on their feet. You can do this by staggering them. Attack the enemy and try to break their defense with your hits which will cause them to stagger. When an enemy staggers, you will get a clean open window to dish out a powerful combo without any counter attack coming your way.

If you do not have a very powerful weapon and you have to go against a powerful enemy, you can use different ways to gain an upper hand on such enemies. You can coat your weapon with poison which will poison your enemies. You can also lay down traps which can trap and damage bigger enemies.

You can even keep at a safe distance and use ranged weapons such as arrows to attack them. With arrows, you do not have to get in close to the bigger enemies however they deal less damage as compared to other melee weapons. Try to poison your enemy and keep a safe distance from them until your enemy dies.

As you make progress in the game, you will meet new trainers who will teach you a lot of skills and even magic. Magic plays an important role in Outward. You start off pretty small with a basic Spark spell and then move on to more powerful spells. You can combine your magical spells together with other elements of the nature to make them more powerful and effective for different situations.

Check out the developer diary video below for more details and how you can use different strategies and combine different in-game mechanics together to create the ultimate battle plans and strategies.
