Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo III will be coming to Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch version is named Diablo 3: Eternal Collection. The game will be bundled with DLC and will cost $59.99.
The game will consist base game, the Reaper of Souls, and Rise of Necromancer expansions all in one package. Diablo 3 Nintendo Switch version will also have Challenge Rifts, Kanai’s Cube, adventure mode, and the crusader class.
Diablo 3 on Nintendo Switch will feature a few exclusive features, Tri-portrait frame, Chicken Pet, the legend of Ganondorf cosmetic armor set, and echoes of the Mask of Cosmetic Wings.
Blizzard remains silent on any disclosure of the launch date of Diablo 3 Nintendo Switch version. Blizzard confirmed that Diablo 3 will run 960p 60fps when docked and 720p when handheld.
The Nintendo Switch version of Diablo 3 will not utilize touch controls. Here is what devs at Blizzard said:
We support everything except for touch at this point… we did some experiments with touch and we didn’t think there was enough compelling reasons to use it in the current state. We felt the controllers were a superior method of controlling the game
Diablo 3 initially launched on PC back in 2012. The game received a lot of praise from the Diablo community. So much so that it received a console version when PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were launched.
The Nintendo Switch version offers several ways to play multiplayer. On a single Switch console, up to 4 players can play together. Up to 4 players can play wireless together on 4 different Switch consoles in the absence of an internet connection.
It has been a long road since Diablo 3 was released back in 2012. Fans of the Diablo community were expecting a teaser or news for Diablo 4, but Nintendo Switch with exclusive in-game bonuses and interactive multiplayer gameplay will do for now.
