Codemasters is currently working on the next title DiRT 5 in their long-running off-road rally franchise and has been revealing more and more information about the game ahead of its October 9, 2020 release. Recently, the developer shared a brand-new trailer of DiRT 5 which showcased the game’s Career Mode and it so happens to be the biggest and the most star-studded Career Mode the franchise has ever seen.
The Career Mode will allow players to live through one of the most ambitious stories to be featured on a Dirt game. The Career Mode will feature the voice acting work of some of the biggest industry stars such as the legendary Troy Baker and Nolan North. James Pumphrey and Nolan Sykes from Donut Media are also part of DiRT 5’s Career Mode as each of these voice actors bring their vocal magic to the game making it more immersive for the players playing the game.
Troy Baker will be lending his voice to a DiRT franchise icon Alex ‘AJ’ Janicek who will be the player’s mentor throughout the Career Mode. Nolan North is taking on the role of Bruno Durand who happens to be a cold and calculated racer hell-bent on dominating another racing series by any means necessary. While the action is taking place on the outside, Donu Media is busy inside hosting their signature podcasts with news, interviews, and random chit-chat with the host Nolan Sykes.
All four of these voice actors will ensure that the Career Mode of DiRT 5 feels as alive as possible. Codemasters has released a brand-new trailer that showcases the new Career Mode along with extensive background material created for the main characters along with the unique approach to recording and storytelling. You will also get to see the brilliant chemistry of everyone involved in the Career Mode that makes the narrative of the game so good.
The game’s Career Mode will feature nearly 130 events spanning over five chapters. There will be nine event types, real-world sponsors, optional objectives, and tons of unique content that you have never before seen in the franchise. Each chapter in the story mode will offer you multiple paths. This means that you will be able to choose which events you want to participate in the chapter. If you prefer completing the whole chapter, you can do so however that is completely optional.
As you complete races, you will unlock more and more events to compete in. The higher you place, the more Stamps you will earn, and eventually, you will unlock the Main Events. These are the events that actually make you progress ahead in the narrative so the better you perform in races, the quicker you unlock these Main Events and the quicker you progress in the story as well. These events are also tougher than the rest of the chapter so you will need to finish third or above to move on to the next chapter.
Apart from these Stamps, the Career Mode will also give you a different number of objectives which when completed, will give you access to different secret Throwdowns. These Throwdowns are fierce one-on-one races where you challenge the best of the best in epic events to claim your victory over the competition. This will only be possible with the help of in-game sponsors and DiRT 5 features some of the best brands from around the world. You will have 20 real-world brands to choose from as your sponsor in the Career Mode. You will find some well-known names such as Monster Energy, Sparco, Michelin, Fatlace, and even Codemasters itself.
Each of these sponsors will come with unique rewards when you sign up with them. You will get access to an exclusive livery of that particular sponsor along with stickers and currency signing bonus. You will be required to complete the objectives of your sponsor which will be both long and short-term. Completing these objectives will ensure that your reputation increases with the sponsor and you get to win the ultimate reward that sits on the top rank. However, if you are not happy with your current sponsor, you can easily switch between them at any time in the Career Mode so the choice will be yours whether you want to stay loyal to one brand or check out different brands and see which offers you the best of the rewards.
DiRT 5’s Career Mode is also not just limited to solo gameplay. It will come with a split-screen mode right at launch that will allow up to four players to play together in split-screen. Each real player added to a race will take one spot of an AI driver. The more real-world players you have during a race, all of them placing at the top spots will earn you even more Stamps, sponsor bonuses, and currency. These rewards will be unique to the host player however all participating players will get XP and currency awards for their own accounts. The 4-player Split-screen mode is drop-in, drop-out which means that your friends and join and leave at any moment of the gameplay.
DiRT 5 is slated for a release later this year on PS4, Xbox One, and PC whereas it will also release later on PS5 and Xbox Series X with enhancements.
