How to Defeat Icon of Sin
In the first phase of the fight, the boss will appear with a full set of armor. Shooting each piece of armor will slowly deplete and destroy it exposing bare skin under it. In the first phase of the fight, your focus should be taking out all of the armor pieces one by one. This includes the head, two chest armor pieces, one abdomen, each shoulder arms, and wrist armor pieces.
The best weapons for this fight are the obvious BFG for the boss, while the Crucible is reserved for heavy enemies like the Tyrant or the Baron of Hell. The battle area also provides a decent amount of BFG ammo in the various levels that you can access. You also have plenty of fodders around to execute Glory Kills for health and other ammo you might need.
When you hit any piece of armor, it will slowly degrade and shatter. This is the only way you can finish the first phase of the fight by getting rid of all the armor pieces. Shooting anywhere on the exposed skin will have no effect until you have taken off all the armor.
On the other hand, the boss will rely on a few attacks of his own, besides the help of smaller to heavy ads that will aid him against you. The boss’s own personal attacks include fist slams and punches, which are pretty quick and demand you to dodge away. The boss also shoots projectiles from the head and also summons meteors from the sky.
In the second phase of the fight, the Icon of Sin will reappear with bare skin. This time you have to repeat the same strategy by shooting different parts of its body to completely destroy them. Uring this stage, you will be facing heavier ads that will spawn and make things very difficult for you. Use the Crucible against them and be on the move all the time.
