Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Boss Fights Guide
Below we have detailed all the bosses and how you can win battles against them.
Boss #1 – Piccolo
Piccolo is the first boss that you will face, and he is no easy enemy to take down. Apart from his Rapid Ki attacks where he sends out a barrage of explosive projectile towards you, he can also send out waves of his Demon Slash.
The best way to defeat Piccolo is to wait for the right moment to attack. At the start of the battle, Piccolo will rely on his Rapid Fire Ki attack that you can only defend against. Dodging this attack might get you hurt in the process. The other attack he has in his arsenal is the Demon Slash. This attack is a wave that he produces and sends forth towards you. You need to dodge this and avoid getting hit.
Piccolo will also surprise you with his Demon Flash Strike, which he will follow up with his Rapid Fire Ki attack. This is where you can be caught off guard if you are guarding with the first attack, and don’t dodge he follow up attack. Overtime, Piccolo will get tired and this will open the window to begin your own attacks.
Boss #2 – Krillin
Krillin is not the toughest boss to beat but comes with some very powerful attacks that you will have to face. The toughest attack he brings in the fight is the Kamehameha which shoots a beam at your location. Krillin relies a lot on this move, but you can dodge this pretty easily if you can spot him charging up before he releases it.
The best way to deal with Krillin in this fight is to Guard and Dodge his attacks. Besides the Kamehameha, he will also knock you with his burst attacks. the best way to deal with his combo attack is to Vanish and then come behind him for your own attacks.
As the fight progresses, his Kamehameha attack will turn more frequent and will hard to spot. It is best to anticipate when he is about to charge up and attack, and then dodge left or right to avoid taking any damage.
Boss #3 – Raditz
Raditz is the first tough boss that you will face in the game. He comes with several powerful attacks, enough to take you down if you get caught in them. The first attack that Raditz will produce is the spinning attack. This can be dodge by moving up or down, but it is so quick that it can catch you off guard. The best way to tackle this attack is by guarding against it.
Other than his spinning attack, he will send out projectiles shaped as orbs that you will have to dodge. This attack is called Saturday Crash and you can either guard through all of the orbs or dodge them. Guarding will deal a little damage as opposed to dodging which will keep you safe.
The last of Raditz’s main attacks is the Double Sunday, where he produces two beams of light. You have to dodge these beams completely, and the best place is to be above the beams. Within the attack, Raditz also sends out orbs that will have you dodging from all angles.
Boss #4 – Great Ape Gohan
The fight with this boss is best fought from a distance. Since you will be playing as Piccolo in this fight, your best-attacking option is the Beam Cannon which will allow you to shoot from far away.
This boss has many attacks and most of them are close-ranged attacks. This means that he is at an advantage if you are up close and are in his range. His attacks include humping in the air and slamming on the ground, throwing rocks that you will have to dodge, and will also jump forward towards you.
One of the main attacks is where he produces a beam from his mouth. The best way to avoid taking damage is to dodge away at the right moment and then wait for him to be exhausted. This will give you an ample amount of time to attack the boss and to deal as much damage as you can to him.
Boss #5 – Nappa
Nappa has several attacks that are deadly if you are close to him. He has 4 main attacks, besides the Giant Storm which you can only dodge away and get as far away from it as possible. The first attack is his Arm Break where he will launch himself forward in a charged attack. The second is the Sonic Storm which he usually produces when he is above you. This attack can not only knock you back but also deal a lot of damage. The only way to avoid it is to dodge left or right.
He also has his Blazing Storm attack, which looks exactly like it sounds. In this attack, Nappa sends forth a wall of fire that can engulf you if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Occasionally, Nappa will also send our projectile-based attacks where he sends out two orbs that explode on impact with their intended target.
Lastly, Nappa has his Giant Storm attack where he engulfs a large area in a glowing ball that explodes after a short period. All you can do during this time is to dodge away and avoid the explosion.
The best way to defeat Nappa is to bring the fight to the ground, and then use the Kamehameha move as a ranged attack. Bring Nappa to the ground makes it easier for your attacks to land as he is not moving around a lot.
Boss #6 – Vegeta, Great Ape Vegeta
There are two versions of this boss and you will fight them each at different stages of the main story. The first time you face Vegeta, he will instantly attack you with his Galick Gun attack, which you can dodge left or right.
Another one of his attacks is called Slash Wave where he will shoot a lot of Ki attacks that come in the shape of a wave. This can also be dodged by moving sideways. The best way to attack Vegeta is to wait for the right moment when he is exhausted after his Rage is finished. When tired, Vegeta does not move at all and is sitting duck to your attacks.
In the later stages of the game, you will come across Great Ape Vegeta. The best way to take down this boss is to get up close and use your melee attacks to attack his head. This deals the most damage to him and allows you to end the fight quickly.
However, you have to be careful of his ground attacks where he jumps in the air and then slams the floor that deals with damage all around in a wide area. You should back off immediately and then continue again after this attack.
Boss #7 – Cui
Cui has two main attacks, the Meteor Crusher, and the Assault Blaster. The Assault Blaster is where he shoots projectiles at your location that can be dodged. The Meteor Crusher attack is where he attacks you from above and knocks you down. This attack can also be dodged at the right moment.
Cui can be defeated with your Ki Blast attack that will drain his health over time. Alternatively, you can also attack with Galick Gun from a distance.
Boss #8 – Dodoria
This boss features a handful of attacks, starting with a dash attack where h charges towards you. This attack needs to be dodged at the right moment to avoid it. Another one of his attacks that you can dodge is the Maximum Buster, where Dodoria shoots three beams towards you.
Besides his dash attack, Dodoria will also charge towards you with his Crushing Fist attack that can knock you down. If you stay far away from him, he will rely on his projectile-based attack that sends out fireballs at your location.
Since most of his attacks require you to dodge, you can sneak in a few of your attacks after dodging successfully. Attacking with the Galick Gun is your best option in defeating Dodoria.
Boss #9 – Zarbon
While most of Zarbon’s attacks can be easily dodged, you should be careful of his Headbutt and Wild Blaster attacks. These attacks deal a lot of damage if he is able to connect them. Another one of his attacks is where he produces orbs that fall from the sky. Though you can easily dodge them, Zarbon has another trick up his sleeve where he grabs you and lets the orb land on you to take damage.
This is where you should stay away from when he begins this attack. To beat Zarbon, it best to attack with the Galick Gun after you successfully dodge his attacks.
Boss #10 – Guldo
One of his main attacks is the Psychokinesis where he throws a large rock towards you. This attack works even better when he has another move that paralyzes you completely. If you get caught in his Paralysis attack, you are an open target to all of his attacks. It is best to keep some distance from Guldo to avoid his Paralysis attack.
Boss #11 – Trunks
Trunks is very effective with his attacks if you are close to him. This is because most of his attacks are melee and require him to be close to you. This makes the fight easy if you attack him from a little distance.
If you are up close, most of his attacks are produced with his sword, while he also has a Dive-Bomb Slash Kick that deals heavy damage and knocks will knock you. Lastly, Trunks also has the Burning Attack where he throws a large energy ball that explodes if it hits you. This can be avoided if you dodge sideways.
This guide is a work in progress. More bosses will be added soon.
