Publisher Movie Games S.A. and developer Byterunners have announced that a free visual overhaul for their 2020 release Drug Dealer Simulator is now available. Available now on Steam and GOG, this update significantly enhances the game’s graphics, while still allowing you to access the original version via a dedicated Steam branch. To celebrate the occasion, the game is currently being offered at a 90% discount.
Drug Dealer Simulator has built a strong following over the years, with hundreds of thousands of you immersing yourself in the gritty world of drug manufacturing and dealing within the shadowy alleys of the in-game Ghetto. Over its four-year lifespan, the game has seen six major updates, introducing new areas, questlines, mechanics, and improved visuals. However, the latest visual update is the most significant yet, bringing a fresh look to the game while maintaining its core experience.
You can check out the visuals comparison trailer below to see the difference between the two graphics modes:
The newly released update introduces several key visual enhancements. You can now enjoy over 1 GB of new textures, with the colors of the terrain adjusted for a more natural appearance. Nearly 90% of the in-game foliage has been replaced, and its density has been increased in selected areas, creating a more immersive environment. Additional improvements include better materials, refined post-process effects such as flair, noise, and film grain, and adjustments to night lighting to improve visibility in darker areas. Water and smoke effects have also been enhanced, and several minor glitches, such as textures rendering black, have been fixed.
In addition to these visual upgrades, cloud saves have been enabled, allowing you to seamlessly continue your progress across different devices. For those who prefer the original visuals, the developers have provided options to revert to the previous version. On Steam, you can access the original visuals by navigating to the game’s properties and selecting the “Original_Visuals” branch under the Beta tab. On GOG, you can choose the previous version of the game through the GOG Galaxy client by adjusting the installation settings.
The release of this visual update is part of the broader DDS Madness 2.0 event, which celebrates the Drug Dealer Universe. As part of this event, the developers also announced the development roadmap for Drug Dealer Simulator 2, the upcoming “BigA$$ Update” scheduled for release on September 4, and the “Casino DLC” for DDS2 which will arrive sometime soon as well.
The last major update for Drug Dealer Simulator was released back in February 2022 and now the developers have released another major update across all platforms. Both Drug Dealer Simulator and Drug Dealer Simulator 2 are available on PC via Steam and GOG.
