Dune: Awakening Pre-Orders

Developer and publisher Funcom has announced that pre-orders for its upcoming multiplayer survival game Dune: Awakening are now live. Dune: Awakening is inspired by Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel and Legendary Entertainment’s films. It is slated for release in two months and as the release date is inching closer, the developer is revealing more and more information about the game. Funcom has also released the Soundtrack Behind-the-Scenes Video for Dune: Awakening called The Sound of Arrakis which you can check out below:

Starting with the Business Model and post-launch plans for Dune: Awakening, the game’s Creative Director, Joel Bylos, has detailed in a separate video that they have long-term plans for the title. Similar to their previous MMOs such as Anarchy Online which is turning 25 next year and Conan Exiles which is still receiving content updates after eight years of its release, Dune: Awakening will continue to receive updates for a long time as well. On its release date, Dune: Awakening will be:

  • It will not be in Early Access, this is the full launch
  • It will not have a subscription
  • The game will continue to be expanded through free updates with content and features
  • It will follow a classic business model of optional DLCs

This means that you will not require a monthly subscription to play Dune: Awakening like you need for World of Warcraft. The future development will be supported by optional paid DLCs which the players can purchase on their own terms, and they will not be required in any way for the base game. The free updates will include optimizations, new content, expansions and much more for all players of the game.
