With Dying Light 2 already confirmed for a release next year, the game developer Techland is still working on more DLC for the original zombie-fighting parkour filled game, Dying Light.
The lead designer at the company Tymon Smektala talked to Gamexindustry.biz where he stated that a team of developers is still working on making DLC for the first game in the series. He also goes on to mention that after last month’s E3 event, the developers decided to add more content to Dying Light.
We supported the game for two reasons. The first is that we believe in our community, and we really believe they will be the most essential part for us getting the word out about Dying Light 2. The other thing is that supporting a game like Dying Light for such a long time allows us to be slightly more crazy, and slightly more creative with some things, and also test some ideas and gameplay elements that we’re not sure about.
If we had an idea we’re unsure about for Dying Light 2, we could mimic that idea to some extent in support of the first game and see how it works. We can see what people find attractive and what’s unattractive to them.
Dying Light was released back in 2015, and has been getting a lot of DLC content ever since. The game brought out a hunter mode, followed by more story content with Dying Light: The Following. In total, the game has seen 10 DLC content so far. The idea of keeping up with the DLC, when its sequel is just around the corner suggests that the team over at Techland wants to keep its product relevant and to try out new ideas.
Dying Light can be the perfect platform to experiment with the ideas that Techland wants. This can be a great way into finding out what can stay relevant to this day, and what can be implemented in the sequel for when it releases next year.
