Electronic Arts CEO Explains Why Switch Doesn’t Get More EA Games

EA Switch

CEO of EA Andrew Wilson has gone on to explain why there aren’t many EA games on the Nintendo Switch. Wilson was responding to questions when he was asked why EA is not adding more titles to Nintendo’s portable console.

When asked if the company is going to bring the Sims 4 on the Nintendo Switch, Wilson responded by saying that  the company evaluates platforms on certain criteria,

Any time we’re evaluating platform conversations, we’re really looking at a couple of things. One, does the game really fit the profile of that platform in terms of the control or the community ecosystem? Two, do we think the community playing on that platform would appreciate the game to go there? Or would they prefer to play it somewhere else?

Wilson explains that the company has done its research and then decides on what platforms they should release the games on. He goes on to say the success the games get on platforms like Xbox One and PC, it justifies their lack of games on the Nintendo Switch.

We have a lot of data that would suggest a great many Switch owners also own a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One or a PC and very often choose to play the games that we make on those platforms, even though they have a Switch and they enjoy a lot of great content on the Switch.

EA has released big titles on the Nintendo Switch, namely FIFA which was more simple and toned down compared to the full product on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Other big games like Apex Legends, Anthem and Battlefield are not available on the Nintendo Switch.

Though he did not deny if the Sims 4 will even be coming to the Switch, he does say that the possibility cannot be ruled out, but the game is doing really well and attracting more players on other platforms right now.
