Developer Rockfish Games has finally announced that it is releasing the first closed alpha for Everspace 2 for its Kickstarter backers on Steam. This will give more than 1,200 backers of the game an early hands-on experience with the content planned for the Early Access release on Steam later this year. If you missed backing the game, you can still get your hands on these Closed Alpha keys as they are being offered as prizes on Rockfish Games Friday streams or media partners.
The closed alpha of Everspace 2 will give players access to over 10 hours of gameplay including a story beat and free exploration. The first star system’s boss fight is included in the closed alpha. The closed alpha will feature new Ship Devices and Ultimate Abilities as well which will give them a massive advantage during their fights in the game. In celebration of the new announcement, the developer has released two brand trailers for the game as well where one focusing on Planetary Locations while the other one is the Alpha Launch trailer. Check them out below.
During the Closed Alpha, players will be able to reach the level cap of Level 10 while playing the main story missions, scripted side missions, and various jobs. Players will find new ships, NPCs, and equipment to use and interact within the game. There are tons of new regions to explore in new Closed Alpha including planetary locations and cave systems in the game’s very first solar system.
Michael Schade, CEO at ROCKFISH Games said:
Creating large open-world games with skill-based second-to-second gameplay and complex player progression can be a beast as there are so many different ways to play through the story campaign while also free-roaming and doing side missions or mini-jobs in any given order with a myriad of possible loadouts at the players’ disposal. Following the great results of working exclusively with our most committed fans on the predecessor’s pre-release, we very much look forward to daring pilots taking the closed Alpha of EVERSPACE 2 for a spin and sharing their experience to help us nail the core game before we go into Beta and Steam Early Access, later this year.
The current schedule of Everspace 2 says that the Closed Beta is planned for Fall 2020 while the Early Access of the game is planned for December 2020. The full version of Everspace 2 will be released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Q1 2020. If you want to try out the game, a free demo of Everspace 2 is also currently available on Steam as part of the Steam Game Festival Summer Edition.
ROCKFISH Games delivered an absolute blast of a sequel with EVERSPACE 2 and we have its wonderful Accolades Trailer to prove it, alongside the Incursions Update, the teaser trailer for its Drake: Gang Wars update, Xbox Game Pass arrival trailer, Zharkov: The Vortex Update, First Early Access Update trailer, detailed roadmap reveal, Early Access Preview, and Early Access Launch announcement trailer. EVERSPACE 2 started its journey as a Kickstarter project during which it showcased in-game locations, HOTAS support, exclusive Closed Beta, gameplay trailers, Closed Alpha, and Concept Art.
Its Early Access launch was delayed on two separate occasions, one in March 2020 and then again in November 2020. Its Kickstarter campaign had a massive goal of $493,000 which was achieved on its final campaign day. The developer kept gamers in the loop with a regular influx of new information during this period. We were lucky enough to get our hands on an early access prototype of the game back in May 2020 for our preview.
