Everspace 2 has finally hit its Kickstarter Goal after an unbelievable finish for its campaign. The brand new open-world space shooter from Rockfish Games hit its 450,000 EUR target on the very last day of its Kickstarter campaign and now the studio is all set to complete the development of the game independently which bodes well for the franchise.
According to Rockfish Games, the game hit its goal just 22 hours before the end of its Kickstarter campaign. Apart from the funding on the Kickstarter campaign, the ongoing sales of the original Everspace will now allow the developer to develop their entire vision of Everspace 2 in complete independence. The game will arrive in Early Access on Steam in September 2020 and the full version is slated for release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in the second half of 2021.
Rockfish Games has not just managed to reach the 450,000 EUR goal of the game but at the time of closing, the developer also managed to hit its first Stretch Goal of an additional 50,000 EUR totaling the amount to 503,478 EUR. With the Stretch Goal also met, the developer will now unlock ‘The Ancient’s Rift’ which will be cracks in space that can be discovered while exploring the huge world game, leading players to dangerous regions of unrelenting enemies.
In these zones, players will be required to prove their strength and cunning to survive zone after zone of ever-increasing difficulty. Players will collect powerful artifacts and super-rare resources which will be required to upgrade equipment with Ancient technology. If the players die inside an Ancient Rift, they will be kicked out of it like they woke up from a bizarre dream and they will get to keep everything that they’ve collected along with a bonus reward as well.
After the Kickstarter campaign of Everspace 2, CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games, Michael Schade says:
We are deeply grateful to all our supporters and couldn’t be more happy about having reached our funding goal at pretty much the last minute. The campaign went much slower than expected, but it paid off that we never lost faith and kept going, releasing several high-quality vlogs as well as some smaller production updates. Together with our brilliant fans we kept pushing and spreading the word about our Kickstarter campaign and worked hard to earn back the trust that after a few recent incidents has understandably been lost by PC players towards game developers. Thanks to our successful campaign we can now develop our full vision of EVERSPACE™ 2 together with our community as a completely independent studio. This is also a clear signal towards other indies that despite the current circumstances success is still possible thanks to a convincing prototype as well as open and authentic communication with your fans.

ROCKFISH Games delivered an absolute blast of a sequel with EVERSPACE 2 and we have its wonderful Accolades Trailer to prove it, alongside the Incursions Update, the teaser trailer for its Drake: Gang Wars update, Xbox Game Pass arrival trailer, Zharkov: The Vortex Update, First Early Access Update trailer, detailed roadmap reveal, Early Access Preview, and Early Access Launch announcement trailer. EVERSPACE 2 started its journey as a Kickstarter project during which it showcased in-game locations, HOTAS support, exclusive Closed Beta, gameplay trailers, Closed Alpha, and Concept Art.
Its Early Access launch was delayed on two separate occasions, one in March 2020 and then again in November 2020. Its Kickstarter campaign had a massive goal of $493,000 which was achieved on its final campaign day. The developer kept gamers in the loop with a regular influx of new information during this period. We were lucky enough to get our hands on an early access prototype of the game back in May 2020 for our preview.
