ROCKFISH Games announced EVERSPACE 2 back at Gamescom and now the title has gone live on Kickstarter with a massive $493,000 goal to reach within a month. The Kickstarter campaign is now live and it will run until November 4, 2019. The developers are planning to release the Early Access on Steam in September 2020 and the full release is slated for the second half of 2021.
EVERSPACE 2 is the official successor of the original hit title EVERSPACE which sold more than 1 million units and it also funded successfully via a Kickstarter Campaign. It was back in 2015 and the game raised over 420,000 EUR back then. However, with EVERSPACE 2, the developers want to further expand the scope of the title with the focus shifting from roguelike game mechanics to open-world gameplay combined with classic RPG elements and extended storytelling.
It will come with expanded perks and a brand-new class-based playership system with plenty of different models to choose from. Players will also be able to further customize their ship according to their style with different weapons, equipment, and plating similar to a traditional RPG character development. Even with all these new additions, EVERSPACE 2 will remain true to the core of the franchise by staying a space shooter and will offer fast-paced space action which is known for the franchise.
EVERSPACE 2 picks up the story right where the first game ended. Players play as one of the surviving clone pilots and they are faced with the remnants of their past. The cloning program has been canceled and the colonial authorities have placed a bounty on them. Survival is now most important than ever. Players will need to evolve from a former military clone to a truly real person if they want to survive in the world of EVERSPACE 2.
The game will feature a narrative story of more than 20 hours alongside countless side missions in a world that is extremely detailed. ROCKFISH is working with excellent creative minds of the industry such as Joshua Rubin who has worked on titles such as Destiny, Assassin’s Creed II, and The Walking Dead. External development partners include Streamline Studios and Volta. SEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games, Micheal Shade says:
We are returning to Kickstarter to allow our biggest fans to be involved and influence the development of the game at an early stage. Of course, we still have a lot of our own ideas to add to the basic game: from New Game+ to giant space monsters, so we’re excited to see how many of these stretch goals our community will unlock.
At this point, the game is in the prototype stage and the developer has already presented a playable demo version at Gamescom 2019, PAX West, TwitchCon, and the Tokyo Game Show. If the Kickstarter campaign is a success, all backers will also get access to the demo on Steam later this year. If you want to back the Kickstarter for EVERSPACE 2, head over to the Kickstarter page and choose the best package that suits you.
ROCKFISH Games delivered an absolute blast of a sequel with EVERSPACE 2 and we have its wonderful Accolades Trailer to prove it, alongside the Incursions Update, the teaser trailer for its Drake: Gang Wars update, Xbox Game Pass arrival trailer, Zharkov: The Vortex Update, First Early Access Update trailer, detailed roadmap reveal, Early Access Preview, and Early Access Launch announcement trailer. EVERSPACE 2 started its journey as a Kickstarter project during which it showcased in-game locations, HOTAS support, exclusive Closed Beta, gameplay trailers, Closed Alpha, and Concept Art.
Its Early Access launch was delayed on two separate occasions, one in March 2020 and then again in November 2020. Its Kickstarter campaign had a massive goal of $493,000 which was achieved on its final campaign day. The developer kept gamers in the loop with a regular influx of new information during this period. We were lucky enough to get our hands on an early access prototype of the game back in May 2020 for our preview.
