Rockfish Games has revealed their last production update of 2020 of Everspace 2 right before the holidays detailing new locations and upcoming features. The developer also thanks many of its supporters for their understanding regarding the postponed start of the Early Access version on Steam to January 2021. According to the developer, the additional time will allow them to get additional content ready in the Early Access build when it launches next year.
In their new update, Rockfish Games has detailed what the ‘The Ancients’ Rifts’ stretch goal from the Kickstarter campaign will bring to the full game. This particular end-game sector will not be available in Early Access however it will feature extra touch challenges and high-quality loot for players. Still, in Early Access, players can discover the remains of ancient ruins of the mysterious extraterrestrial race known from its predecessor in the star system Union. The developer has also revealed additional details about the Prescott Starbase.
Prescott Starbase is located in the star system Union and it is a bustling trade hub in the game. Here, you will be able to find high-tech gear, medical supplies and mining resources from various businesses managed and run by independent Freelancers. This is located above the planet Culver and the Outlaws also sell goods of questionable origin for high profit to the highest bidder at the Prescott Starbase black market. This trading hub will be available to all players from day one of Early Access and as the game continues to develop, this hub will be expanded over the course of the next year with additional functions and new content.
A new internal tool ‘Enemy Caster’ is also in the new update that the game’s Level and Gameplay Designer have been using to rapidly create and test enemy encounters. With the help of this new tool, the team can quickly create and test a wide variety of scenarios. This will ensure that more interesting battles are encountered throughout Everspace 2. The game’s first two start systems will feature over two dozen enemy types and this number will only increase over the next 12 months.
Keeping in view the hardcore fans of space simulation fans, the Early Access version of Everspace 2 will offer fully configurable HOTAS support and presets for popular Logitech and Thrustmaster joystick setups.
