Marvelous Games hosted their annual summer gaming livestream, the Marvelous Game Showcase 2024 last week. The event featured several new reveals and updates on existing titles, captivating the gaming community with exciting announcements. Here’s a recap of everything.
Farmagia (formerly Project Magia)
Product Manager Takehiro Ishida officially announced the new title, Farmagia, showcasing the game’s opening animation. This action-packed preview introduced the cast of characters and their unique powers. Ishida-san highlighted key characters designed by renowned artist Hiro Mashima: Ten, the impulsive protagonist; Arche, his kind yet competitive childhood friend; Chica, another childhood friend with a reserved demeanor; and Lookie-Loo, Ten’s loyal sidekick and mascot. Farmagia is slated for a global release in 2024.
Story of Seasons
Series Manager Hikaru Nakano provided an update on the upcoming, yet-to-be-named entry in the beloved Story of Seasons franchise. The team is focusing on enhancing visual presentation and natural environments. Nakano-san debuted a new look at their progress, showcasing improvements like updated natural lighting and immersive festival fireworks. The project remains in active development with a full reveal planned for a later date. New gameplay features include a player-controlled glider and the return of fan-favorite pets.
Amusement Section
Marvelous Inc. also highlighted their efforts beyond PC and console entertainment, announcing new arcade initiatives. Among these is Naruto: Arcade Battle, set to launch in North America this summer. Players will dive into the Naruto universe on a massive 50″ screen, engaging in intense ninjutsu battles and collecting plates to achieve the highest rank. Additionally, several arcade titles exclusive to Japan were revealed.
Indie Partner Lineup
The Marvelous family continues its commitment to supporting creative and innovative indie developers by announcing global releases for several exciting new titles. Leading the lineup is “Death the Guitar,” the Bitsummit 2023 Grand Prize winner. In this game, players embody an electric guitar empowered by death metal to avenge its owner. This title is set for a 2025 release. Another anticipated game is “Moonlight Peaks,” a supernatural-themed vampire farming/life simulation from Dutch developer Little Chicken, scheduled for release in 2026. Additionally, Marvelous will release “Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus” in Asia and Japan on July 28, 2024.
Rune Factory
In a segment dedicated to the Rune Factory series, Director Shiro Maekawa took the stage to reflect on the series’ evolution over nine titles and 18 years. He unveiled a new video for the upcoming “Rune Factory: Project Dragon,” showcasing the protagonists Subaru and Kaguya. These new Earthmates will interact with their world through dance, introducing unique non-combat tools such as parasols and drums, alongside traditional series weapons like swords and new types including bows and talismans.
