PlayStation State of Play February 2025

Sony just held its first State of Play broadcast of 2025 in February and we got to see some much-awaited announcements like Borderlands 4 release date announcement, a detailed look at MindsEye, some cool new announcements like Meta Eden, and plenty more. If you missed the broadcast, we have this complete breakdown feature in which we have compiled all of the trailers, announcements, updates, and everything else for you. So, let’s start without any further ado.

Monster Hunter Wilds – First Free Update Details + Launch Trailer

Monster Hunter Wilds is launching later this month on February 28, 2025, and Capcom showcased a brand-new action-packed trailer to kickstart the broadcast. During the spotlight, Capcom also announced the details of the first free update for Monster Hunter Wilds which will arrive in Spring 2025, and it will add a new monster Mizutane to the game along with Event Quests. Additional content is also in the plans for Spring 2025 and later in Summer 2025 which will include an additional monster and more Event Quests, details of which will be announced later.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance – Reveal Trailer

SEGA followed with the official Reveal Trailer for the side-scrolling action game Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Developed by Lizardcube, the team behind Streets of Rage 4, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is a brand-new 2D action platformer in which you play as the legendary Shinobi Joe Musashi, master of the ninja arts. Your journey for revenge begins after you find your village burned down and your clan turned into stone. It is slated for release on August 29, 2025, with pre-orders now live.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – Reveal Trailer

SEGA also announced the next game in its Sonic Racing franchise called Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and from the reveal trailer, the game looks amazing. Featuring amazing levels and excellent vehicle mechanics, the game looks like it is heading in the right direction to be a serious Mario Kart contender. The game will feature a variety of offline and online modes, and you will be able to build your very own dream racing machine. Power-up items will be available in races, and you will unlock special skills to customize your racing experience. As of now, SEGA has not announced any sort of release window, but a Closed Network Test is taking place soon and you will be able to sign up for it starting February 21, 2025.

Digimon Story Time Stranger – Reveal Trailer

BANDAI NAMCO and TOEI ANIMATION have officially announced the next installment in the Digimon franchise called Digimon Story Time Stranger. The game will follow the iconic JRPG formula and feature turn-based battles. You will travel to a brand-new world featuring both the human world and the Digimon world where you will collect and train a large variety of Digimon for battle. It is slated for a 2025 release, and you can add it to your wishlist right now.

Lost Soul Aside – Pre-Order Trailer

Solo developer Yang Bing revealed his brand-new title Lost Soul Aside that he has been developing for the past 10 years, and his dedication has led to his partnership with PlayStation. Lost Soul Aside features fast-paced combat with an open-world design. As you explore this world, you will face distinctive enemies, see unique environments, interact with fascinating characters, and experience an engaging story. Lost Soul Aside pre-orders will start on February 19, 2025. It is slated for release on May 30, 2025.

PlayStation Partner Updates Feature

PlayStation’s Director, Global Third Party Portfolio Shawne Benson took to the stage to announce some updates for different third-party partners. These include:

  • Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii demo arrives this week on the PS5. You can download and try a free demo from the PSN store starting February 14, 2025, 7:00 AM PT. The demo will give you a chance to experience the two battle styles and engage in some naval battles as well. The full game is slated for release on February 21, 2025.
  • Ichiban from the Yakuza franchise is coming to DAVE THE DIVER as a DLC in Ichiban’s Holiday DLC. The DLC will arrive in April and will bring a fresh serving of unsettled threats and friendships. It also received a trailer that we have linked below:

  • Splitgate 2 Alpha begins February 27, 2025, on the PS5. You will need to use portals and futuristic movement to win in this unique shooter game. The Alpha will feature a brand-new massive map with 24 players playing at the same time.

WWE 2K25 – The Island Reveal Trailer

Next up, Paul Heyman, WWE Hall of Famer officially revealed WWE 2K25 The Island. For the first time in the franchise, you will be able to step out of the ring and enter The Island, an online environment filled with WWE-themed live events, shops, landmarks, and much more. Each server will have around 50 players on the same island, and it will allow you to customize yourself to your will. The Island will be part of WWE 2K25 when it launches on March 14, 2025. Pre-orders are now live.

Borderlands 4 – Release Date Trailer

Gearbox has finally unveiled a September 24, 2025, release date for Borderlands 4 along with an action-packed trailer showcasing explosions, jumping, and tons of cool guns. The announcement was made by none other than Randy Pitchford himself who was accompanied by Randy Varnell, CEO of Gearbox. The duo also announced that a special Borderlands 4 State of Play will take place this spring with additional details, information,n and a deep dive into the game. Additional details will be announced later.

Split Faction – Story Trailer

HazeLight Studios, the developer behind the critically acclaimed game It Takes Two, showcased a brand-new Story Trailer for Split Faction. The new trailer shows how the two characters of the game do not go along well with each other at first. However, as the story progresses, they need to depend on each other more and more forming a bond. Split Faction is slated for release on March 6, 2025.

Directive 8020 – Story Reveal Trailer

The horror fanatics at Supermassive Games revealed a brand-new trailer for their upcoming horror game Directive 8020 showcasing more of the game’s story and its chilling atmosphere. The brand-new game is set aboard the space vessel Cassiopeia and astronauts are aboard this vessel on a mission to save humanity. Things go awry when the ship is infected by an alien lifeform that can imitate the prey perfectly. This makes you question every decision you make of trusting your fellow astronauts. Directive 8020 is slated for release on October 2, 2025, and pre-orders for the game will begin in June 2025.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic – Gameplay and Release Date Reveal Trailer

Steel Wood Studios revealed the brand-new title in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise called Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic. The trailer gives us an in-depth look at the game’s actual gameplay which looks pretty much like what the franchise is known for. You are not locked inside a room and can move around freely trying to avoid the animatronics and surviving the whole ordeal. It is slated for release on June 13, 2025.

The Midnight Walk – Release Date Announcement Trailer

Co-founders and Directors Olov Redmalm and Klaus Lyngeled of Moonhood Studios showcased the release date trailer for their upcoming title The Midnight Walk. The Midnight Walk is a gorgeous dark fantasy adventure game featuring handcrafted details. In this unique game, you will become The Burnt One and befriend a lost lantern creature called Potboy who provides you his flame to light the way and move through a world of wonder and horror. It is slated for release on May 8, 2025, on PS5 and PS VR2.

Darwin’s Paradox! – Reveal Trailer

Konami showcased a trailer for its brand-new title Darwin’s Paradox!, a quirky new adventure game where you play as Darwin, an octopus. As Darwin, you are snatched from the sea and thrust into a mysterious food factory where you must try your best to survive and escape with your life. You will use Darwin’s natural camouflage and inking skills to progress the game. Darwin’s Paradox is slated for release in 2025, and you can add it to your wishlist right now.

Warriors: Abyss – Launch Trailer

Koei Tecmo Games revealed a brand-new title Warriors: Abyss which is a roguelike spin on the iconic Warriors franchise. In this new game, you will command historic and masterful warriors and use them to wipe out countless swarms of enemies. Warriors: Abyss is now available on PS4 and PS5.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny – Pre-Order Trailer

Capcom revealed a brand-new trailer for Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. The PS2 title is getting a full remaster with HD graphics, and a lot of quality-of-life improvements. You will find new and improved gameplay mechanics. It is slated for release on PS4 on May 23, 2025, and pre-orders are now live.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword – 1st Trailer: Protagonist

Capcom also revealed a new trailer for the next title in the Onimusha franchise called Onimusha: Way of the Sword showcasing its protagonist and story details. Miyamoto Musashi dazzles his foes with masterful swordplay in the trailer. The game is slated for release in 2026.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater – Release Date Trailer

The remake of the iconic 2004 hit action game, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater is releasing on August 28, 2025. The remake enhances the game on every level including story, characters, voice acting, gameplay and music which makes it a truly immersive experience for the fans of the franchise. Life of P: Overture – Announcement Trailer

Round8 Studio and Neowiz released the announcement trailer for Life of P: Overture which is the prequel to the original game Life of P. The game is set in the final days of haunting late 19th-century Belle Epoque. As the Puppet Frenzy massacre is about to happen, you will follow the legendary Stalker, a mysterious guide, through untold stories and chilling secrets. You will journey through Krat and its surroundings as you uncover hidden backstories and face epic enemies to uncover events that lead to the main game.

Dreams of Another – Announcement Trailer

Pixel Junk and Baiyon announced their brand-new title Dream of Another with a soft trailer showcasing the game’s unique art style. This unique title is a third-person exploration game that is built around the theme ‘There is no creation without destruction’. In the game, your shots will not destroy the world but rather build. There is no release window as of now for Dreams of Another, but it will arrive on PS5 and PS VR2.

Days Gone Remastered – PS5 Launch + PC DLC Release

Bend Studio’s Days Gone is getting a Remastered version for PS5 which will bring VRR support and PS5 Pro support. It also includes newly added content like Permadeath mode, motorcycle SpeedRun modes, and enhanced Photomode. A brand-new Horde Assault mode is also coming with the Remastered version which is a survival arcade mode that increases horde sizes massively. All PS4 owners can upgrade to PS5 Remastered version for just $10. PC players will get the Broken Road DLC along with new game modes as well. Days Gone Remastered will be released on April 25, 2025.

Stellar Blade x Goddess of Victory – Nikke DLC Trailer + PC Release Announcement

Stellar Blade is getting a new DLC as part of its new crossover event with Goddess of Victory featuring Nikke. The DLC is currently in development, and it will bring a new boss battle along with a new costume to collect. The DLC as well as the PC version of Stellar Blade will arrive in June 2025.

PS Plus Catalog Update: February 18, 2025

Sony also shared an update on all titles coming to the PS Plus Catalog coming this month. These include:

  • Star Wars JEDI: Survivor
  • Top Spin 2K25
  • Lost Records: Bloom and Rage

Two brand-new titles are also launching on the PS Plus catalog later this year including Blue Prince and Abiotic Factor. Blue Prince is a genre-bending, atmospheric, architectural adventure game where you will get to explore 45 shifting rooms. As you build the house, one room at a time, each door is a decision. Each room you pick adds another new layer of strategy, puzzles, and exploration. Based on your decisions, you will be able to find the mysterious room 46. It is slated for launch this Spring.

The second title is Abiotic Factor which is a 6-player crafting survival game based in an underground research facility. In this game, you are caught between paranormal containment failure, a military crusade, and chaos from a dozen realms. It will arrive later in the summer of 2025.

The first classic Armored Core titles are also coming to the PlayStation Plus Classics catalog. These include Armored Core, Armored Core: Project Phantasma, and Armored Core: Master of Arena. Patapon 3 is heading to the classics catalog as well.

Tides of Annihilation – Announce Trailer

Tides of Annihilation is a brand-new action game set in London engulfed by an Outworld invasion. The game features Gwendolyn, the only survivor of the apocalypse, who discovers a mysterious power to command the legendary Knights of the Round Table. To save her sister, she sets on a journey across two worlds: a shattered modern London and the mythical Avalon. SAROS – Cinematic Announcement Trailer

Housemarque, the studio behind Returnal, announced its brand-new, upcoming title SAROS which is set on the planet Carcosa under the threat of an ominous eclipse. In the game, you take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a powerful Soltari Enforcer who is looking for answers on a lost off-world colony. Taking inspiration from its previous game, SAROS features a permanent progression system where every time you die, it will shape the world around you while offering new upgrades to overcome challenges. Featuring a haunting story, deep third-person action mechanics, and a performance by Rahul Kohli, SAROS is the next evolution for the development studio’s gameplay-first experience. It is slated for a 2026 release.
