Ubisoft has just announced the free to play weekend of Far Cry 5 on PC. The game will only be accessible on Uplay for PC players as it goes live tomorrow on May 29 at 6 am pacific time. During the weekend, players will have full access to the base game’s content.
While you wait to play the game tomorrow, you can pre-load it right now from Uplay, and have the game ready when it goes live on the platform. Any progress you make in the free game will be transferred if you purchase the full game later on.
If you are unaware of Far Cry 5, it is the latest title in the franchise released over two years ago in March of 2018. The game featured a completely new story, much like any other Far Cry game, and is set in America. The game offers players total freedom to explore the beautiful looking but far from being normal world of a fictional place called Hope County.
When you first arrive in Hope County, you will find that the inhabitants of the city follow a very twisted and fanatical doomsday cult called the Project at Eden’s Gate, which has taken over the county. The helpless people of the county are under siege by the cult and cut off from the rest of the world. Your task as a player is to join the Resistance, grow in numbers, and defeat each member of the cult, until you reach the main culprit called Joseph Seed aka The Father.
In addition to the free weekend, Ubisoft has also announced discounts up to 75% on all Far Cry games for standard or gold editions for PC. Sadly, there is not a free weekend for console players right now. Last month, we got the free to play weekend of Rainbow Six: Siege across all platforms. Hopefully, we can get a free version of Far Cry 5 for console players as well.
