This Final Fantasy 7 Remake Limit Breaks Guide will show you how to unlock all the Limit Breaks for each of the characters in the game. Each of the characters has two Limit Breaks, where the attack can be upgraded to level 2. There is also an alternative Limit Break that can be equipped to all characters.

Limit Breaks are special and powerful attacks that each of the four characters has in their inventory. These are the most powerful attacks in the game allowing you to deal massive amounts of damage to opponents.

Below we have detailed all the Limit Breaks of each of the characters.

Tifa Lockhart

This character has the following Limit Break moves:

  • Somersault (Level 1) – This move is unlocked right from the start for Tifa, and it involves a kick that deals damage and launches the enemy in the air.
  • Dolphin Flurry (Level 2) – When upgraded to Level 2, the Dolphin Flurry will be unlocked and will allow you to perform multiple attacks that stagger the enemy. To unlock this Limit Break, you need to complete the Tifa vs Wild Animals battle at the Colosseum and get the Legacy: Dolphin Flurry manuscript.
  • Refocus – This move will split your ATB bar to three, allowing you an additional ATB action rather than just two. This Limit Break can be unlocked by equipping the Refocus Materia on this character

Cloud Strife

This character has the following Limit Break moves:

  • Cross Slash (Level 1) – This move is unlocked right from the start for Cloud Strife, and it involves slashing enemies for damage.
  • Ascension (Level 2) – When upgraded to Level 2, the Ascension becomes a new move that sticks the characters focus on one target for multiple powerful hits. This will also greatly stagger the targeted enemies. Ascension can be unlocked by completing the Cloud vs. Wild Animals at the Colosseum to get the Legacy: Ascension manuscript.
  • Refocus – This move will split your ATB bar to three, allowing you an additional ATB action rather than just two. This Limit Break can be unlocked by equipping the Refocus Materia on this character

Aerith

This character has the following Limit Break moves:

  • Healing Wind (Level 1) – This move allows you to restore some amount of health to all allies. It is unlocked from the start.
  • Planet’s Protection (Level 2) – when upgraded to Level 2, the Planet’s Protection move will allow you and your allies to be immune to physical damage. This move can be unlocked by getting the Legacy: Planet’s Protection manuscript from the Colosseum.
  • Refocus – This move will split your ATB bar to three, allowing you an additional ATB action rather than just two. This Limit Break can be unlocked by equipping the Refocus Materia on this character

Barret Wallace

  • Fire in the Hole (Level 1) – This move allows you to shoot an orb tat explodes in a large radius to deal massive amounts of damage. It is unlocked right from the start.
  • Catastrophe (Level 2) – This move allows Barret to fire a powerful beam that will greatly stagger targets. It is unlocked by getting the Legacy: Catastrophe manuscript from the Colosseum.
  • Refocus – This move will split your ATB bar to three, allowing you an additional ATB action rather than just two. This Limit Break can be unlocked by equipping the Refocus Materia on this character
