SQUARE ENIX has announced that the studio will continue supporting the critically-acclaimed MMORPG FINAL FANTASY XIV Online for the next 10 years. During their latest stream, the developer also announced that some of the upcoming content players can look forward to as part of this goal with free trial registrations live once again for the game. The details were shared by Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida.
One of the key aspects to get updates in the future includes improved graphics. The process has actually already started because the upcoming Patch 6.1 will update the in-game Trust System. This system allows players to tackle select main scenario dungeons with a party of NPC comrades as it allows players to enjoy the story at their own pace without needing to seek out party or fellow players.
Patch 6.1 is currently slated for a release in April, and it will implement Trust System for all main scenario dungeons of A Realm Reborn with more to be added later. New players and players looking for singleplayer experience further will have several low-level main scenario dungeons and trials that will be adjusted to support an accessible, solo-play experience. The game’s first graphical update will arrive with the next expansion pack with more to follow.
Both character and world visuals will get visual updates as they will encompass elements like higher-resolution textures, improved material qualities, and better lighting and shadow effects. A partial roadmap of new content planned for upcoming patches has also been revealed by SQUARE ENIX. These include:
