Fortnite released July 25, 2017 and the game became internet sensation. The game is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, iOS and Android system of devices. The game supports cross-play features and you can play with your friends regardless of any device on which they play Fortnite.

There was a feature that was much requested on Fortnite community at Reddit. Epic Games have finally listened to the requests of the fans and the much needed ‘Gifting’ feature will come to the game in patch v6.31.
In a recent blog post from Epic Games, they have mentioned that ‘Gifting’ feature is finally coming to the game. Epic Games have also mentioned key information that will be necessary if you want to gift in-game purchases to your friends.
It must be noted that the ‘Gifting’ feature is not a permanent one. Epic Games is releasing the feature for a period of one week. They will like to test the feature first and how it performs for people who play on different platforms.
Also, the ‘Gifting’ feature will not be available on iOS devices as Apple’s policies are strictly prohibiting the usage of it. Sorry Apple users, you are left out on this one.
Here is how the ‘Gifting’ feature works. When you head over to item shop and buy a cosmetic item, you will find out two options now. One will be the traditional ‘Purchase Items’, while the other one will be ‘Buy as a gift’. Once you select the later option, you will find the following screen.
After selecting the option of ‘Buy as gift’, you will be asked which friend you want this gift for. You will get to select the recipient then. Once you have finalized, you can add a custom message for your friend, if you like. After that, your gift is ready to send to your friend. Your friend will receive the gift box once he / she logs in next time.
Epic Games wants you to understand the basics for sending the gifts to each other. Here is the information that Epic Games released officially.
- Make sure you have Multi-factor authentication enabled on your account. If you’re not sure how to get this setup then check out the instructions here.
- You must have been friends with somebody for at least 48 hours before you can send a gift to them.
- You will only be able to gift three times within a 24 hour period.
- Any gifts that are purchased are NOT refundable.
- You can only gift an item that is currently available in the Item Shop.
Also, if you do not want to receive any sort of gifts, you can easily disable them under Accounts Settings.
