Sony Offering Free PS4 Online in Celebrations of 10th Anniversary of PS Plus

Free PS4 Online

In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of PS Plus, Sony is offering a free weekend to everyone to enjoy their online games with their friends on PS4 free of any cost. This means that from July 4, 2020, to July 5, 2020, you will be able to play any game online with your friends whether you have PS Plus subscription or not. However, this does not apply to the PS Plus games offered by the service.

PS Plus was first released back on June 29, 2010, with Wipeout HD as the very first game to be offered as a free title. Since then, it has been a long journey with the service spreading across PS Vita and PS4. Paid online was first launched on PS4 when the console was launched. Online remains free-to-access to this day on PS3 and PS Vita. Sony however stopped giving free games for PS3 and PS Vita back in March 2018 and ever since we have been getting free games for PS4 only. Recently, Sony upgraded the PS Plus online capacity from 10GB to 100GB allowing players to store even more saved files online.

This was announced in the recent blog post where PlayStation announced the three PS4 PS Plus games for July 2020. Normally, we get two PS Plus games every month for PS4 ever since Sony stopped giving our PS3 and PS Vita titles however this month, Sony is giving a bonus game to PS Plus subscribers in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the service. PlayStation wants to continue PS Plus on the next-gen console PS5 as well however no details have yet been shared of any changes to the service or its structure however we can expect to see some free games at PS5 as well as part of the service.
