Tough news to the fans of Friday the 13th: The Game as the publisher Illfonic has announced server shutdown after the game receives its final patch update later this month.
The patch update will bring in a lot of fixes that the player base was requesting, however, we will have to wait on the specifics as the patch notes are to be revealed before the release of the update.
A short statement at the game’s forum confirmed the last patch update before the team decides to pull the plug on the dedicated servers of the game.
All things must come to an end, eventually. And while that statement might sound ominous, there is a lot to cover and a lot of news to highlight, so please read on.
Dedicated Servers for Friday the 13th: The Game will be decommissioned in the upcoming patch, set to roll out this month, November 2020. What this means is that the game will revert back to peer to peer matchmaking for Quick Play lobbies. The Database Servers, however, will stay active and continue to house all player progression and unlocks, so users can continue to play Friday the 13th: The Game via peer to peer Quick Play and Private Matches.
The team at Gun wants to thank each and every player and fan that has made Friday the 13th: The Game what it is today. We know this news is hard to hear, despite being inevitable. We appreciate each and every one of you.
Having said that, we don’t have a release date confirmation for the patch update which is planned to launch this month. The publisher does mention that the team is hard at work in completing a long list of issues that the players have requested to be fixed.
After the server shutdown of Friday the 13th: The Game, the forums will also be archived but in a locked state, so players can reference all the information that lives on the various boards.
