Developer Frogwares has officially revealed the first gameplay teaser for The Sinking City 2, giving us our very first glimpse into the eerie world of Arkham. Alongside the teaser, the studio has launched a Kickstarter campaign to support the game’s development, aiming to deliver an expanded and polished survival-horror experience.
Set in a Lovecraftian 1920s United States, The Sinking City 2 transports you to Arkham, a city plagued by a mysterious supernatural flood. This catastrophe has left the city in decay, overrun by Eldritch horrors and home only to the most disturbed inhabitants. The new teaser shows intense combat, exploration, and an optional investigation system, highlighting the game’s expanded focus on survival and horror.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Frogwares explained the decision to turn to Kickstarter as a way to secure additional resources and maintain a safety net during development. The ongoing war in Ukraine has continued to disrupt the studio’s operations, making community support vital for the project’s success.
Wael Amr, CEO of Frogwares, comments:
After three years of this horrid war hanging over our daily lives, we’ve learned to adapt, though it has never been easy. When we released Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened with the help of Kickstarter and our fans, the safety net it provided saved us during power outages, sudden relocations, and other disruptions. With The Sinking City 2 being a far more ambitious project, we’ve decided to follow the same path.
The Kickstarter campaign aims to raise €100,000 (approximately $105,000) and offers backers a variety of rewards. Among the highlights are two exclusive Collector’s Editions, available only through the campaign. In addition to the teaser, Frogwares has also released a developer diary offering a deeper look at the game’s progress, including new in-game footage and insights into the development process.
The developers have also released a Developer Deep Dive into The Sinking City 2, which is linked below:
The Sinking City 2 promises a rich and immersive horror experience, emphasizing combat and exploration while maintaining the studio’s investigative roots. You will face Eldritch-inspired creatures using a range of 1920s-era weapons, scavenge for limited resources, and navigate the city by foot and boat through decaying mansions, flooded markets, and abandoned hospitals. For those craving more depth, optional cases and puzzles provide additional layers of mystery and lore.
The game’s narrative remains deeply rooted in Lovecraftian mythology, focusing on personal loss, cults, and incomprehensible horrors. This latest entry reflects Frogwares’ commitment to pivoting toward a “horror-first” approach, with an emphasis on action and atmosphere while still preserving the investigative elements that define their previous work. Sergiy Oganesyan, Frogwares’ Publishing Director, comments:
When we announced The Sinking City 2 back in 2024, we made it clear that this was our opportunity to focus more on horror. The results have been incredibly promising. While we haven’t abandoned our investigative roots, this game prioritizes combat and exploration, with investigation serving as an optional layer for those who want to dive deeper.
If you want to support Frogwares, you can head over to The Sinking City 2’s official Kickstarter page and pick any package that suits you. As of this publishing, the developer has managed to secure over 80% of the total goal with 29 days still to go. This is an excellent sign, and you can expect the developer to release the game in the best state possible. A Steam page for the game is also live, where you can add the game to your wishlist and support the developers here as well.
