Publisher Funcom and developer Astrolabe Interactive Inc. have announced the Early Access release of Aloft. Aloft is a feel-good sandbox survival game and it invites you to restore the ecosystems of a fragmented world by taking to the skies on floating islands, either solo or in groups of up to eight.
Set in a world shaped by wind and scattered with floating islands, Aloft combines survival mechanics with creative freedom. You can navigate between islands using customizable gliders, gathering resources, unearthing ancient technology, and transforming islands into skyborne homes. With crafted sails, rudders, and helms, they can turn these floating sanctuaries into functional skyships, making each journey as strategic as it is adventurous. Along the way, you will farm, cook, care for animals, and combat a mysterious corruption threatening the balance of nature.

The game has already garnered praise during its demo stages, where you experienced its first biome and dedicated countless hours to building and decorating your dream homes in the sky. With the Early Access release, Aloft now offers three distinct biomes, with plans for more to be added throughout its development.
Creativity and collaboration are central to the Aloft experience. You can share their custom skyships on the Steam Workshop, allowing others to explore and enjoy their creations. In cooperative mode, up to eight, you can bring your individual skyships into a shared game, forming a dynamic, moving village in the clouds.
The development team is committed to evolving Aloft based on community feedback. The Early Access roadmap outlines plans for addressing initial bugs, implementing quality-of-life improvements, and introducing new features. This flexible approach ensures the game’s growth aligns with your expectations and experiences.
Aloft is now available in Early Access on PC via Steam and if you are interested in trying it out, you can head over to its official Steam page and add the game to your library right now. If you prefer its full release, you can add the game to your wishlist for now, and stay tuned for its full release.
