Frontier Developments has revealed the details of future updates planned for Elite Dangerous during Lavecon 2019. Announced during the event, the developer mentioned that for the second half of 2019, two major updates are planned for Elite Dangerous. The first update will arrive in September while the second major update is planned for December.
The major highlights from the first update which is releasing in September include a brand new ‘In Ship’ Starter Experience, a new Virtual Currency called ‘Arx’ and a new Livery System to allow much greater freedom to players if they want to customize their ships. Starting with the new ‘In Ship’ Starter Experience, Frontier Developments is implementing a whole new starting experience for the players who have just joined the game.
The game will offer much clearer instructions and guidance during the early stages of the game so that they are more engaged while learning the basics of the game and understanding the mechanics that at this point are somewhat difficult to understand with the current system in place. According to the new system, the pilots will get to know
- Basic flight controls and scanning.
- Supercruise and navigation.
- A combat exercise around a megaship.
- Culminating with the final lesson: completing one’s first Hyperspace Jump and docking at a starport.
Apart from this, the in-game currency called Frontier Points is being rebranded as Arx across all platforms of the game. Pilots will be able to purchase the currency as well as earn them in-game and use them for numerous cosmetic purchases.
Things that can be purchased with Arx include Paint Jobs, Ship Kits, Bobbleheads, and many other items. This will not benefit the players in any way and in no way, this will help players to have a pay-to-win system in the game.
Coming to the December update, the developer will add Fleet Carriers in Elite Dangerous and have also released a short teaser video of the update. However, more details on this update will be uncovered in the coming days. In the meantime, check out the teaser video below.
