It looks like Borderlands 3 was not the only title on Gearbox’s mind for some time because last night at PAX West, Gearbox and Blackbird Interactive revealed a brand new trailer for a new Homeworld game. Homewolrd 3 is officially coming however you are not going to like the next part of the news. The title is slated for release in 2020 however the developers only revealed the game now because they have setup a crowd-funding for the game.
You heard that right. Blackbird wants crowd-funding for Homeworld 3 announced last night and a funding page is already live on Fig. The game is in pre-production however the reveal trailer looks amazing. According to their crowd-funding page, the game has already generated over and according to Comicbook, the $50,000 mark was reached in less than an hour.
The reveal trailer does not show any sort of gameplay as of yet and it is all cinematic however it does show us a little of the how the game will look in its final form. Since it is a pre-production phase, we can expect the final form to be much better when it comes out. The visuals and overall mechanics will be further worked on.

According to the official announcement, Homeworld 3 is the sequel to the last title in the fan-favorite RTS franchise. The original art director Rob Cunningham is returning to work on the latest title in the franchise which will ensure that the game is true to its roots as it continues the story further where the previous game left off. The game will feature full 3D combat along with classic RTS mechanics that the franchise is famous for.

The game has already reached its goal it requires to be funded which bodes really well for the developer. The campaign will end on September 30, 2019, so you have the next month only to pledge your alliance to the game.
