The Coalition revealed new details on the Horde Mode that will be featured in the Gears 5 last night during Gamescom 2019. It looks better than ever and some of the features introduced in the Horde Mode have never been seen before. It also appears that The Coalition is going along the lines of Call of Duty’s online mode where we had specific hero characters with their own unique abilities and powers.
The video showcased last night revealed some of the heroes that will be available in the game mode and each hero comes with his/her own unique power which will help players to change the tide of the battle. Some of the powers are offensive while some heroes will have tactical powers such as Kait’s power Cloak which allows her to turn invisible and get up close and personal with the enemies.
Similarly, we can see JD with his ultimate ability of Airstrike and it shows taking out a Swarmak with a single ability use. This shows that the ultimates are pretty strong and will come in handy in tricky situations. The reveal trailer also shows FAHZ with the ultimate ability X-Ray which allows it to see through walls and use a special gun which can also take out enemies behind the walls.
This time around it looks like Jack is coming as a playable character in Horde mode because it comes with its own Ultimate Ability which is Hijack. With Hijack, Jack can deploy an anchor in a swarm unit and take over it allowing Jack to use it as its slave. It’s a pretty neat Ultimate however we are not sure if Jack will be able to control bigger Swarm units or not.
The horde mode, on the other hand, looks crazy as we can see some of the most dangerous Swarm units along with some new ones as well. Apart from the Swarm, players will be going against Jinn’s robotic armies as well in Horde Mode giving another twist to the mode. Introduction of Ultimate abilities will definitely help the players in the biggest and the best Horde Mode ever to arrive in a Gears of War game.
