Avalanche Studios and THQ Nordic have released the launch trailer for Generation Zero and it shows us man vs machine in some of the locations featured in the game. Generation Zero is Avalanche Studio’s upcoming open world FPS and set in the Swedish country side where humankind is waging war against rogue robots.
The launch trailer shows us a large number of rogue robots which players will be fighting in the game. The game also shows different in-game locations where players will travel and battle robots of all shapes and sizes. The game features wide open outdoors as well as underground bunkers and in-door buildings.
The rogue robots have led humanity to near-extinction and it is up to the player to figure out a way to stop the robot invasion and find out the reason behind the invasion. Players will explore the countryside of Sweden which is digitally reimagined and set in the 1980s. Since the game features different robots, players will need to adapt and figure out different strategies to take them out.
Check out the trailer below before we go in more details about the game.
Some of the robots are huge and cannot be tackled head on so players will need to opt for some guerilla battle tactics for taking them down. Players can play either solo or invite some friends over for seamless co-op multiplayer. The game is much easier with friends as players can revive downed players quickly and share the loot at the end of the battle.
The game also features a unique enemy system where all enemies are persistently simulated in the entire world of the game. This means that if players engage an enemy and then break some component on their bodies but fail to kill them or flee the scene, the enemies will bear those battle scars. If the player encounters the same enemy again after hours or even weeks, the components they broken earlier will still be broken.
The enemy robots that roam the world of Generation Zero are of different types and they range from tiny Ticks to huge Tanks. Each robot will have different strengths and weaknesses and players must adapt to each enemy type to defeat them and kill them. The open world gameplay and the chance of encountering any type of robot at any time will keep players on their toes at all time.
Generation Zero is releasing on PS4, Xbox One and Steam on March 26.
