Genshin Impact Crosses $100 Million in Two Weeks, $60m on Mobile Alone

Free to play open-world adventure game Genshin Impact has just crossed $100 million across all platforms in just two weeks after launch. The game has done so well that it has grossed around $60 million on mobile in the first week alone.

According to a report by Sensor Tower, the RPG has become the second grossing mobile game worldwide, and sits just behind Tencent’s Honor of King, but overtaking PUBG Mobile which sits at number 3.

Genshin Impact is free to play and is available on all platforms including consoles, PC, and mobile devices. The report also states that this is the biggest global launches ever for any Chinese game publisher. While RPGs are not uncommon in Asia, it is the worldwide reception of the game which made it popular.

China ranks No. 1 for revenue globally, followed by Japan at No. 2, with players in the country spending approximately $17 million, or close to 29 percent of total revenue. The United States, meanwhile, ranks No. 3 for player spending, generating $8 million, or about 13 percent of the total.

In China, Genshin Impact ranked as the No. 3 top grossing title in the country during its launch week. Meanwhile, in Japan it also ranked No. 3, and in the U.S. it was the No. 5 revenue-generating mobile game.

Globally, the App Store accounts for the majority of player spending in Genshin Impact, making up $42 million of revenue, or about 70 percent of the total. Google Play, meanwhile, accounts for approximately $17.7 million, or close to 30 percent of spending.

On the other hand, the developer of the game Mihoyo has also announced that a map expansion for Genshin Impact is planned for a release in late December this year.
