It looks like PS5 has lost yet another exclusive to 2022 as Bethesda has announced that Ghostwire: Tokyo has been delayed to 2022. This is the second PS5 delay for 2021 as the first title was Gran Turismo 7 which is also now slated for a 2022 release. The delay was announced by the Tango Gameworks on the official Ghostwire: Tokyo Twitter page.

Although there is no clear indication, the statement clearly means that the game has been delayed another year because of COVID-19. Polyphony also gave the reason for COVID-19 behind the delay of Gran Turismo 7 for PS5. Ghostwire: Tokyo was announced back on E3 2019 during Bethesda’s E3 showcase and earlier, it was announced as a PlayStation exclusive. Despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, the studio is still honoring the exclusivity.
This could, however, change in the future because another title Deathloop was originally announced as a PS5 exclusive however it was later revealed that it will remain a PS5 exclusive for only a year and the game will eventually find its way to other platforms as well in 2022. At this point, there is no delay announced for Deathloop, so it means that the game is still planned for its September 14, 2021 launch date. Deathloop was delayed earlier twice, however.
Both Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have been really quiet on Ghostwire: Tokyo and not much is currently known about the title apart from the fact that despite looking like a survival horror game, it is not. It is much more inclined towards a nightmarish premise, but it is a first-person action game. Nearly all of the people in Tokyo have vanished and you must find out what happened to these people.
With Ghostwire: Tokyo delayed to 2022 as well, it seems like we won’t be getting any good PS5 exclusives in the coming months as Deathloop will eventually release on other consoles as well. We do not know at this point whether Ghostwire: Tokyo will also release on PS4 but with most current PS5 titles releasing on PS4 as well, this could happen.
