Gran Turismo Trademarks Filing Hint at PS5 Announcement on June 4

Gran Turismo PS5

We know that Gran Turismo is one of the most iconic franchises of PlayStation however PS4 was not the best platform for the franchise. Despite the console receiving some of the best PlayStation exclusives, the console did not really get a good GT game as we only received a half-baked Gran Turismo: Sport which received most of its content post-release after fan backlash. However, it appears like SIE might have some big plans for the Gran Turismo franchise on its next-gen console PS5.

Recently, Sony was about to hold a brand new event that was supposed to reveal PS5 games to the world however the event was later delayed and we have yet to know of a possible new date of the event. However, at the backend, Sony has been keeping busy because on the same date, on June 4, 2020, SIE renewed three of its trademarks namely Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital, and the GT logo. All three of these trademarks were renewed on June 4, 2020.

This makes us believe that Sony might have been planning to reveal Gran Turismo 7 during this event while renewing the trademarks at the same time. However, due to the current riots and strikes in the USA, the event was canceled and we did not get to see any new reveal as of yet. GT Sport was originally intended to be focused on eSports only however only at a later stage, some singleplayer content was pushed into the game and it was shipped to players. It was a big disappointment for the fans and even today after receiving so many free cars, it still lacks behind massively as compared to older titles.

The PS5 game reveal will now be announced soon and only then will we be able to finally see if Polyphony Digital has been working on a brand new PS5 Gran Turismo game or not. We know that a new part is coming in the franchise and it will release on next-gen PS5 so it is only a matter of time before we finally get the official announcement by Sony and Polyphony Digital that the next Gran Turismo game hopefully named Gran Turismo 7 is coming.
