Rockstar Games has announced that GTA 6 will not be released on PC in 2025 and the developer is aiming for a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release first. This was the game earlier with GTA 5 as well and PC players had to wait quite a bit for their preferred platform. But if you go in the franchise’s history, this has been a trend with most of the recent releases by Rockstar Games. Both Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 skipped PC at launch however their PC versions arrived later filled with additional content, better visuals, optimization, and much more.
If you have not seen the first trailer for GTA 6, we have linked it below:
This information was not shared in the trailer but rather in a separate press release shared by Take-Two Interactive later which revealed that the upcoming GTA 6 will be skipping PC as part of its 2025 launch window. As rumored earlier, the upcoming GTA IV is taking place in the state of Leonida which is home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City. The game is set in contemporary times and will be the biggest and the most ambitious project released by Rockstar Games to date. As we can see from the trailer, the game world looks amazing, it looks busy, and the character models look brilliant.
GTA 6 is also an important milestone for Rockstar Games because the previous title GTA 5 was released all the way back in 2023. GTA 5 made it across three different platforms, initially getting released for PS3 and Xbox 360, later getting an overhauled version on Xbox One and PS4, and then finally another enhanced version released recently on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The PC release of GTA 5 coincided with the PS4 and Xbox One release. With GTA 6, we do not think that Rockstar Games will wait for a whole generation to release the PC version, however, we can expect GTA 6 to last at least two generations because, upon its release in 2024, the current-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will already be 4 years old.
We recently dived into the first GTA 6 trailer for some cool details that we spotted in it so make sure that you check them out as well. As of now, GTA 6 is slated for a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release in 2025. Additional details about the game will be shared later. In other news, a brand-new GTA Online December Update is also dropping later which will bring new holiday-themed content including Drift Races and Car Robberies to the game.
